Now I don't need a man to tell me what the Bible says, I can f***ing read it myself!

waZelda

Precisely. I for one wouldn't even call myself Christian. I've read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation twice in my life, and both times the chronology of the book didn't agree with the popular Christian ideals, such as Christ being God, the trinity, and stuff like that.Been studfying the Bible independantly since I was about 7 or 8, and got a lot of flak for it from my parents and peers, but in the end, if that is required for salvation, I'd rather know what it means to me, and be accountable for at least trying, than trusting others and risk being wrong, only to discover that I was being irresponsible. :)

Animorphs rip-off. I'm a big fan of Applegate's books. Also, I think I pick up a bit from all the books/TV series/videogames/comics I like, whether it is stuff I enjoy, or stuff I find that I don't like and should try to avoid in my own writing.

EDIT: Also, I will probably get into the half-life games at one point, now that I've discovered steam and everything. I have decided to wait until episode 3 comes out though, because from what I've heard, waiting for it when it doesn't even have a release date yet is pretty torterous.

waZelda

Really? Me too lol. I used to love animorph books. Something about secret societies of kids fighting against the system of society appeals to me. I even have a story in my head I've had since I was really little about a secret underground network of tunnels beneath schools that kids find one day at recess, which ends up revealing that the teachers are actually a network like an army that brainwashes kids and by the end of school, they will fit perfectly into society's plan. So the kids take up arms and fight a secret war. Both sides can't be open about the war because the conspiracy for both sides doesn't go to far, so it's a constant game of cat and mouse. I never wrote it, but I should one day. As for the half life games, I never liked them. Too many coincidences to get you from A to B. But maybe that's what some people like or maybe it's something else. Look forward to more of your work. Do you have a fiction thread?

Interesting. I too know God exists, and am anti-religion. Though I do follow the bible, believing it to be the handbook to salvation. However, salvation is dependant on me, not what anyone preaches to me imo.

I'm done with the FL Studio thing; it's just too much work for something that ends up sounding really unimpressive. Music is supposed to be artistic, not mechanical. I guess that's why the whole "computer music program" just doesn't work for me._IronManDude_

Brother, I hear you on that one. My cousin uses a program to make music, and it's ok, but I don't think he grasps that statement you made there, or if he could even understand how anyone could think such a thing. Oh well, not all artists are artists, y'know? Anyhow, the lasty song you did there I liked. I thought it might be against all the athiest uselessness but it could also be anti-God, so it's a shame if it was, because the athiest "pill" is a doozy, imho. Anyhow, keep it up!

Ah, television, the cultural phenomenom of our time. I say, waZ, you haven't missed much at all. TV is full of gimmicks that exploit the things we are conditioned to growing up, and the whole advertising business is one of the most insane forms of hypnosis you'll ever see. No, stick to reading books and talking to people. And throw some video games into the mix.

Half-Life 2, anyone?

Foolz3h

No point in replacing one terrible thing with another, mayne.

Bra-vo! Lol, exactly what I was thinking. But I feel I must respond more seriously: I do not watch television, save for the odd show here or there. I actually came across Battlestar Galactica on tv just by accident. So I bought the mini-series as a leap of faith and the rest is history. The show spoke to me in many ways, but I did resent the Star-Trek influences via the writers. I agree with what you say about television, but an important show is important, no matter where it comes from imo. And I for one am the first to speak out against the uselessness of modern-day media. except that this time you did :P

Nice one with the Call of Duty joke.

waZelda

I thought so too lol. I guess I'm just not a lyrics guy, because I can't hear the music. I tried to look at it as poetry, but it didn't seem to work for me. Granted I only read the first one. I'll comne back to the others to try again though. :)

Never watched it. For years we only had four TV channels at home and it wasn't until two years ago that we got the channel which does, and even then it is at pretty inconvenient times of the day. The few times I could have seen it I decided not to for fear of not understanding anything of what was going on. I hadn't watched any Star Trek before that either, and still have only seen a few episodes. Man, I've had such a deprived childhood!waZelda

That's too bad! I have been influenced a lot by the movies and tv shows I enjoy. They are a big part of me, and even slip into my writing, or out of my writing as the case was here. What inspires you to write?

Seriously late reply, but:

Hellfire is a song in Disney's adaption of the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

On the latest poem I'm enjoying the flow and the emotion in it, and sadly I don't have any joke about it to confuse you with :P.

waZelda

Oh, well I had not known, glad you like the newest poem though, are you a fan of BSG by any chance? And don't get me wrong, the jokes are fine, I just thought I might have missed something in my own writing :o lol

[QUOTE="a-7493-23"]

I actually wasn't trying to rhyme this one, so it is unfortunate that it turned out that it did and was a bad thing. I'm glad you enjoyed it regardless though, but not a fan of BSG?

Foolz3h

Overall not at all, but it does have its moments here and there I must admit.

Yeah, I for one hate all of season 4.5, I feel they ruined what was good about it. But I can see how you'd probably not like it overall I guess.

I didn't enjoy the rhyme much, but otherwise I thought it was pretty effective given its length and content. Certainly better than BSG. :PFoolz3h
