As an agnostic atheist, there's nothing wrong with religion in our culture, christianity and islam, etc can teach many good things, though they also can and do teach the opposite. The real problem is when people begin to actually "believe" in the certain things, such as that Jesus is the Son of God, all Pagans should be killed, etc.

In western society there's this thing about freedom of religion and freedom from religion. More and more there is a particular stress of "from". But what annoys me, is that there is this double standard going on.

It's all ok when you are criticizing Christians for being homophobic and bigoted idiots, but when it comes to christmas, you really don't mind accepting the benefits of the holiday. In fact, now there is that big controversy about saying "merry christmas" because it offends people, but who cares about those damn christians who want to celebrate an event which plays an integral role in their religion?

In fact, it's just ridiculous that people resort to writing "x-mas" because they believe "christ" is a swear word or something.

There's also more stuff like "B.C." doesn't officially stand for "Before Christ" any more, it's "Before Common Era"

And this kind of religious oppression isn't exclusive to christianity. Pretty much every religion in western society has it's rituals and holidays ripped to pieces by the public. Marriage is 100% a religious ritual that has been thrown about so much. Everyone has a problem that religious people have a problem with gay marriage.

In some tribes in thailand, they have instruments that can ONLY be played by men, and instruments that can ONLY be played by women. Nobody has a problem with that, they just think it's an interesting cultural querk.

Why can't you have the same attitude with Marriage. Marriage is a ritual that is about ONE man and ONE woman. We aren't discriminating, we don't hate gay people, it's just a ritual that is meant to monitor the responsiblities and obligations of procreation. For you guys to step in, take the sacred act of marriage and change it anyway you want because gay people "love each other, and it's really unfair we don't get married" is just offensive.

I believe in civil unionships, they offer the same benefits of marriage. You don't need marriage to show love for a couple. And heck, if a contract is too formal for ya, you can add some vows and whatnot for all i care. But if you take marriage and throw it around a few times, it may not be discriminating gay people, but it is for religious people.

There are religious nuts, but i wish atheists would pay some respect to the rational people who are part of a religion.

Rant over.

And don't bother flaming me i'm about to go to sleep

Before I read the rest of your post...

CHRISTMAS ISN'T A CHRISTIAN HOLIDAY AS CHRIST WAS NOT BORN ON THE DAY! IT'S BORROWED FROM A PAGAN HOLIDAY!

Ok.

Yes.

Yesterday I was sleeping and I thought I heard something from the corner of the room. And so I grabbed my pistol and looked around. First, I looked outside the window and saw nothing, but then I heard someone breathing. So I slowly approached the closet and shouted, "get out or I'll shoot"!. And so my friend came out of the closet.

THE END

Where did the Holocaust take place?

Germany

Where the heck was Israel formed? Palestine.

Did palestinians participate in the holocaust? Hmm no.

Israel shouldn't be there in the first place but hey it's been a mess there ever since.

Btw, religious reasons have a LOT to do with the U.S. helping Israel.

[QUOTE="ab-1205"][QUOTE="ThePlothole"][QUOTE="ab-1205"]The magic bullet is bs imo. You can prove almost anything with theoretical physics, but using common sense the magic bullet was a cover up.ThePlothole

The "magic bullet" has been proven not just with theoretical physics, but also using very practical science. That's a fancy way of saying the shot has been replicated several times!

And we're to believe in that? And of course, to close the case, Oswald gets murdered on TV.

Are you trying to suggest that every single television executive to this day is in on "teh conspiracy"?

No but some of them are, it's sad how people believe everything the gov't tells them.

Oh, hey, lets invade Iraq because theres weapons of mass destruction. Oh hey, the majority of the terrorists that bombed the Towers were from Afghanistan (majority were from Saudi Arabia) so lets invade!

Take a look here folks, only 2 minutes long.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XY02Qkuc_f8

Watch how the Agent motions with his hand to the other Secret Service guys to stay back (their job is to protect the President). Ater one bullet, wouldn't you assume the bodyguards would cover the president as Human shields, just how one had covered Ronald Reagan to save his life?

Don't ask your WHEN and HOW, ask yourself:

WHY...who benefited the most.

Coincidently, when his brother Robert Kennedy ran for President he was also shot on live TV...the CIA is scary my friends, capable of doing anything. From assassinating Presidents and Prime Ministers all over the world (with evidence for a lot of them) to murders within the U.S.,etc...very scary.
