@HamonXY Replies, capitalise your I's and Civ is one of the most revolutionary series in gaming, incorporating some of the most sophisticated simulation systems ever seen in gaming and it's almost as influential as the work that Will Wright did with Maxis. There is your argument, please stop writing things on the internet until you know what you're talking about or can provide a reasoned argument.
Spark Unlimited have yet to convince me that they can make halfway decent games. The Lost Planet series has yet to convince me that it has any merit beyond looking pretty. This game looks neither decent nor pretty.
Sorry but Greg and his team need to eat. If there is a demand for war games that people will enjoy then there's no reason why it should be met. Are there games out there that offend people's sensibilities? Of course there are. If you don't like them then vote with your dollar. There's a reason people also play Arma and Red Orchestra, it's that they're fun to play. Deal with the fact that the medium you write about is designed to be enjoyable Tom. Games are meant to be fun, if they also deliver on story and respect for the subject matter well that's nice.
Do I get disturbed by how dismissive war games can be about murder? Sure. But would I rather see that same content in a game that was tedious and unpleasant? No. That's the difference between Greg and co being out on the street and the opinions of a journalist on a game that he will never play to see if his assumptions are valid or not.
