S.T.A.L.K.E.R. by a long shot. It's unique, original (at least it was at the time), fun and challenging. It's not surprising that the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series as a whole is a PC exclusive.
Far Cry 2 is a good game but there's no point in even comparing it to the legendary original game because it's not even related to the same story, and plays completely different too. I like Far Cry 2 for it's huge environment and open-ended gameplay, but I find it difficult to accept it as an actual Far Cry game. Had it been released under a different name i'd give it more praise. Oh, and half the game consists of endless driving between missions and respawning enemies...
That said, both games are great, but S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is an instant win for me.
I'd say 2004for me. It was a year of so many great FPS's. Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Far Cry, Halo 2,Deus Ex Invisible War, Battlefield Vietnam, Medal Of Honor Pacific Assault...also other games like GTA San Andreas were released. But last year was ace too.
