@gamingdevil800: If you care about the story, pick up Warcraft 3. It's still one of the best RTS games ever made, and the story of WOW is a progression from Warcraft 1,2 and 3 with 3 being far and away the best imo.
Long Post...My opinion. I’ve played all of these. Yes, I have been around this long :(
Diablo - Yes
Total Annihilation - Horrible choice over: Final Fantasy 7, Fallout, Goldeneye 007
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time/Grim Fandango - Yes/Should have shared with Starcraft.
SoulCalibur, Everquest - Yes/Yes
Chrono Cross/The Sims - CC over FFIX? Debateable. The Sims wasn’t the “best” PC game of that year (I’d pick BG2) but it was groundbreaking and record-selling
GTA3/Serious Sam - Yes, 1000x/DAoC would have been my pick but eh.
Metroid Prime - I’d pick WC3 but these two games are two of my all-time, so it’s a really hard choice. 2002 was a magical year.
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker - Would never have picked it over KOTOR. Never. NEVER. I hope I am being clear about this :)
World of Warcraft - Lot of WOW haters out there but absolutely the best game of 2004 in my book.
Resident Evil 4 - Sure but I liked the Wii version better when it came out
Gears of War - Can’t complain
Super Mario Galaxy - Absolutely
Metal Gear Solid 4 - In retrospect...hell no. Impressive at the time but severely lacking in “game.” Better choices: Valkyria Chronicles, GTA 4, Crisis Core. I can understand why they picked it at the time though.
Demon’s Souls - Yes if you have the persistence. Arkham Asylum was my personal choice.
RDR - Hell Yes
Skyrim - Another Hell Yes, but you missed out if you didn’t get it for PC
Journey - No (for me). Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed Journey. But it’s a short game with sort of limited replayability and I couldn’t pick it over Xenoblade Chronicles, Mass Effect 3 or Diablo 3; all of which I played and enjoyed a bit more
Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - A remake of one of my top 5 all-time? Count me in.
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor - Great game. Better than Dark Souls 2? Probably not
Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Was between this and Metal Gear 5. Can’t go wrong either way.
Was a pretty good game and lots of fun but I can't help but feel that its time was years ago. I had a lot of fun with my cleric and at the time, the graphics were solid (poorly optimized however) and it was a well put-together game. Shame not every game can be a raging success. :(
I think the general consensus from the reviewers was that: "if you've seen one CGI-heavy, story-lite movie, you've seen em all." Best to go back to the drawing board on this one Alex.
