I will be the first to admitt that I enjoy a well constructed and original narrative, but some of the best games I've played were without a strong backstory. The greatest example that comes to mind is Super Mario Galaxy, where "A" princess is captured by "B" villain and must be captured by "M" hero. Very cliche, but simple enough a premise for outstanding gameplay, strengthened through excellent level design. So yes I do believe a game's plot is important, sometimes I play games for the experience, and not the thinking aspect of it.

Hey everyone, I plan on buying a PS3 sometime next month, and before I do that I plan on buying a decent HDTV. Nothing fancy since I have a very small dorm, but I was looking around and found a nice Sony Bravia 32inch 720p for about $700. Could you guys recommend me a tv that would work well for a PS3 and doesn't hurt the wallet too much? Much appreciated!

Hey everyone, I plan on buying a MGS4 80GB bundle in about a month or so, so two quick questions: 1) Will the bundle still be on store shelves by then? And 2) Does the PS3 use 65nm or 90 nm? Thanks for the help!

If three percent of the North American population is homosexual and is advocating for the right to marry, just calculate that. 3% of 300 million? You'll let that many voices go unheard?

There is a topic on this page that asks if you accept or do not accet homosexual marriage. I do, and I would like to explain why, if I may. I am psychology student, and hope to become a PHD in the field of child psychology and development. I also come from a long line of family who has worked in the government, and so I humbly propose that it is possible to legally sanctify homosexual marriage without the consent of the church. According to the Bill of Rights, church and state are seperate, which is all fine and good. Suppose you want to get legally married and the church says no. Then you have a problem. It would be however, theoretically possible for two homosexual individuals to have a union, of physical assets and have them seen by the state as having the same rights as a heterosexual couple in a marraige sanctioned by the church. This union could identify them as a couple, and allow them the same rights as any normal married couple, without forcing the church to obey the state. Not being homosexual, I cannot say if members of the homosexual community would oppose this, but I honestly and humbly believe that every person, regardless of race, religion, preference or creed has the human right to be happy.

Also, it should be understood that sexuality is not genetically induced, but in fact influenced. One of the studies I had the opportunity of researching first hand occurs while a woman is pregnant for the second or third time (sometimes more). When a woman is pregnant, she provides nutrients for her forming baby, and her environment and genetics will influence those of the unborn child. What is also intresting is that the baby will in turn influence the mother. When a male child is forming in the womb, it gives off excess testosterone which the mother absorbs. After a second or third male, the mother can have a surplus of testosterone that she can either harmlessly absorb until it dissipates, or her body can reject it. If she becomes pregnant during this period, while her body is rejecting the alien testosterone, a boy forming within her will be greatly influenced. Literally, the male baby's forming mind and body will be shaped to be more similar to that of the mother, as the mother's self defense mechanism targest the excess testosterone. This can result with a male child, perfect in every way, but with a small cerebral tick. Other studies show that a homosexual man's brain is most similar to that of a heterosexual woman's, and thus the new born child will be a boy, but with a brain that is most similar to that of a newborn girl than that of a newborn boy. This does not mean that every boy from now on will be homosexual, or that a single male child in a family will be homosexual, but there are positive correlational studies that confirm this phenomenon. Just my two cents.

I felt compelled to write a message for this thread, in refute of what one other person said earlier. No, homosexuality is not genetically caused, but it does have genetic indications that can influence a person's later sexuality. That's all we can say with certainty. As a psychology major, I hope to get a PHD in this field, so I feel I should clear up some misconceptions. There is a correlation to a male's sexuality depending on which child he is in the family. The myth of the younger child being more prone to being homosexual has some truth in it. When a child is in the womb, it's hormones correspond with that of the mother, and in this delicate environment a person's brain is formed but not completed. An interesting thing that occurs during this stage is that the more male children a woman has, the more testosterone residue will be left in her body while they form. Because of this, after her second or third male child, she has excess testosterone that stays within her, and her body can actually reject this testosterone while the child is still forming. This can lead to a male being formed in the womb with a 'woman brain.' Literally studies show that the brain of a homosexual male is most similar to that of a heterosexual female. It is not a case of wrong brain wrong body however, as not every third or 4th male child is homosexual, it is just a slight positive correlation. Just thought I would clear that up.

On the topic of gay marriage, I whole heartedly agree with homosexual unions. If church and state are seperate, as they are ment to be as stated by the Bill of Rights, then the state can never force the church to sanctify gay marriage. A union, both financial and of property could be created as a compromise by the government to satisfy homosexual marriage requirements. So they would not be married by the church, but they would be recognized as marriage by the state. This sort of marriage I can agree with, as I believe that every adult, regardless of race, religion, creed of preference has the human right to be happy.

I would wish to say that I am the voice of authority, but I have had a bit of experience with the Federal government for as long as I can remember. My father is a diplomat for an agency called USAID, United Sates Agency for International Development, and currently we live in the Dominican Republic. He is the director for this agency, and as a director his duites include managing social projects such as setting up local schools, training teachers, setting up clinics against STDs, maintenance on orphanages and such. Basically, he does all he can for improving the quality of medicine and life for the Dominican people. My mother works in security, and has escorted former president Clinton, Mrs. Clinton, Colin Powel, Condaliza Rice, and Mr. and Mrs. Bush. I have a summer job at the American Embassy processing visas and passports, so that American citizens can enter the US. I would half agree with what you posted, but the Federal Government is broken into many groups and subgroups, all operating independently but under the same rule. I hope this helps

I won't pretend that I understand what you are going through, but I can sympathize. I am a psychology major in college, and hope to become a proffessional psychologist one day. I hope to help people, but it's times such as these that make me feel so helpless. Suicide is a very cowardly way to escape your problems, as it offers a permanent solution to a momentary problem. Basically, one of the things I've learned is that people don't choose to be happy, they are happy by their nature. This means that happy people are naturally happy, and non happy people are naturally unhappy. What's interesting is that we always revert to previous stages of happiness. Basically suppose a very happy person gets in car accident and loses both of his legs. At first he might be angry and frustrated and his sudden loss of mobility, but over time his frustration will go away, and his natural identity emerges again. He will be just as happy as he was before, even without his legs. What I'm trying to say is, though we don't choose to be happy in life, we do choose what we do, and how we view a situation. You can take the easy way out, or you can see that you have your life ahead of you, and you have to see that you are blessed. I live in a third world country, and have lived in many for all of my life. I see poverty, death and starvation every day I go to work, and every night I go to school. But I struggle on becuase these are the people I hope to help, even if listening is all I can do. Be strong.
