Carolyn says those stories fall within the template of Max Payne and God of War, not that it is a popular or common template. She does however say that many games have females who fuel the male characters development rather than drive the narrative themselves. Poor digital, so dumb. Did I say anything about being white??? btw I like your use of multiple question marks--and effective rhetorical strategy that I'm going to borrow. Did I say anything about playing video games and a connection to retardation? I probably play many more video games than yourself. Liberals are like road kill that has been sitting in the street for a long time: not good. Personally, I like my road kill only two days old or less. It's a trip to read all of the hate on this writer and her article. If you read this Carolyn, don't fret. I'll go out on a limb and assume you are well educated, as you have decided to extend your thoughts on video games beyond the obvious and bland. These gamers who mindlessly droll on and on in their hate and simplistic rationales are nothing to upset you. Like the lemmings they mirror, they are simpletons, incapable of abstract thought while readily capable of reacting on their base reactionary emotions. Talking shit on men? Can only name two video games that support your assertion? You're not what America deems attractive? Don't only have good things to say about a video game I like? Well then it's time to unleash my hate and insecurities onto a forum. Impressive gentlemen.
Well remember this Carolyn, hating is very easy. Especially for the uneducated, the insecure, and the irrational. Men, let's grow some brain sells; put down the video game for a day or two and pick up a book. Learn about different ideas, cultures, and thought processes. And sure you can sit back and "just play the game and enjoy it for what it is..." but why not go further? Questioning those who construct media and entertainment, while not as easy as shutting your brain off and enjoying the product, can lead to informative discoveries. Such as bias, unjust policies, or an undercurrent of gender bias, that is so common in society today, is easily passed over as normal, or just the creative mind doing as he or she wants to do. Well maybe it's time that creative mind (in this case Naughty Dog) reflected deeper upon their own choices. Or not, as casting men in this light easily grabs the masses (many of whom I assume are the angry posters in this thread) and increases revenue.
@CloudStrife213 I don't care if this game shipped with 15 maps. They wrecked the gameplay - all aspects of the gameplay. Frags, weapons, downing, execution, COG v COG, pastel coloring, etc. The could these crappy maps in half and there you go, eight real Gears sized maps.
They did make a game that took a stupid amount of inspiration from Gears 1 to make the best Gears possible. It's called Gears of War 3 and it's available at many fine - and not so fine - retailers.
