Where the new info on Tomb Raider?

Here's hoping for some new information and gameplay media of the reboot of Tomb Raider. What will the open world be like? Combat with pistols, bows and arrows, or a whip? Wait, where did Indiana come from? Please no.

Lara has seen some negative years, so it would be nice to see her back on top, not that she's that bad on the bottom either.

Priorities 2012

I've been promoted finally. What does that mean? Not much other than I'll have a paying job for another 6 plus years. And garaunteed gaming finances. YES!

Started Korean Karate in 2010. Now a 5th Gup (Green Belt)

Steve Jobs passed away in 2010. Thanks for changing the way the world moves forward Steve.

Huge stream of gaming titles fire hosed through the 4th quarter.

I am feeding a bug that loves Skylanders. I have to collect them all.

Where will this end? Gaming? Life. It's all a part of me.

Reloaded

Family, games, college, occupation. That's about the priority I give to the important things in life. I have been playing more games than I can keep up with. Have not reviewed any games that I've played and completed for a long while. I tried to do an audio review of Deadly Creatures for the Wii, but I got caught up in other games.

I've recently Played Wet, ODST, some Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Dead Space Extraction, and unfortunately I played Iron Man to give it another chance, but found myself wanting out.

Looking forward to Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising being released tomorrow. Then Uncharted 2: Among Thieves releases next week. Good gaming. I'll certainly give a review of Uncharted 2.

I picked up a PSP Go on October 1st. It's nothing special, I bought it out of neccessity for portable gaming while I was away on business. Thought I could get away with not bringing my PSP 2000. I like the PSP Go's design. It certainly caters to adifferent [digital] consumer. I am a flexible consumer. I downloaded Gran Turismo (the reason I bought the PSP Go) and I am really getting hooked. Along with digitally purchased versions of Metal Gear Solid (PS),Rock Band Unplugged (free with the initial release PSP Go purchase), Puzzle Quest (very good), Silent Hill (PS), and Final Fantasy VII (PS), there are a number of hours to be had with thesegreat games now on the Go.

I'll write again when I feel the need.

Taking Time

There is nothing more I'd rather do than write a daily journal in this space, but wouldn't you know it, I find myself distracted. No excuses really matter at this point, but gaming is fast and furious. For the Love of Kay … where to begin.

Kay is a matter of perspective. Kay is a feeling of directing ones love of the game toward making the most out of any given title regardless of its origin or hype. Kay is my word. I'm keeping it in my user name too. Use it at will.

So here I sit after playing titles like Tomb Raider Underworld, Gears of War 2, Far Cry 2, Halo Wars, Street Fighter 4, Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Mirror's Edge, Dead Space, Prince of Persia, Fallout 3 (breath), and the list is getting overwhelming by each new Tuesday.

Where does one find the time to appreciate each title? Oh, I am waiting on for Resident Evil 5 to arrive on my ship at sea. Hurry airmail…hurry…please. RE5 will just be another distraction. A fun distraction to say nothing more, but RE5 is a sure thing. I expect to be excited. RE1 a beyond games were. Why should I expect anything less? I should not because the software is already paid for.

All of these games are hyped/promoted to be the very best of gaming. For the most part, all above attendees are great at providing great gaming experiences. But where's the innovation? Sure LittleBigPlanet is a leap of 4 friends creating new worlds to play in, but is that it? Does each subsequent title in an IP guaranteed to be in my Library by name alone? Yes, likely. Does this make me a flat gamer? Kay says no.

I would never want developers and producers to stop making games with Lara Croft in them, but Lara needs a run for her money too. Drake tries. Someone please tell me that I am not a gullible gamer that accepts what's played in front of him, and tell me that I do love a little something fresh.

Did I mention that I am also waiting for Deadly Creators to come in the mail? Did I?

Being Imaginative

User created content. Being able to dream and then develop those visually through a medium like LittleBigPlanet and Far Cry 2 (level editor) is greatly improving how the gaming community communicates and interacts.

I finished my first Published FAR CRY 2 Community Map "Dogon Raid". Fine tuned it online last night and played nicely with others.

It is a very rewarding feeling interact inside something that you have created. Which further motivates my imagination and creative instinct.

A storm of new game releases is approaching-time to set sail.

I am going to be gone for all of October. Away from any gaming retail store where I would be buying the newest releases. I'll even be gone most of November. Wow. What great timing. Here are the releases I have preordered that I am going to miss by as much as 30 days.

Tomb Raider: Underworld

Resistance 2

Gears of War 2

Little Big Planet

Far Cry 2

Dead Space (I will probably get the Ultra)

Socom: Confrontation (I need a better headset)

Castlevania (DS)

Fallout 3

MotoGP08

Mirrors Edge:cry: (not sure about the bag)

I am going to drop a load of credits on the table come this November. Where to start. I think I'll play in this order: Tomb Raider, Mirrors Edge, Far Cry 2, Dead Space, Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Fallout 3, and then Castlevania. I'll play LittleBigPlanet, MotoGP08, and Socom sprinkled in between all those.

This is going to be a hard 2 months to bear...

Megaman 1-9 and Mercenaries 2

Mercs 2 was a little bit off. It starts out looking unfinished, and it is unfinished, but manages to create fun out of having coop play happen smoothly, and destruction being so exciting. The story for Mercs 2 is not worth your time, it was better in the original. Once you can buy as many nuclear bunker busters as you want, it feel like a waste when your objectives are all finished. I wish the replay was there. Different starting positions for each merc or a different story line between them. What are the odds that each merc would get a bullet in the rump?

Megaman.

Picked up Megaman Anniversary and X collection. I have Megaman 9 on wii, so the meat of the Megaman games are at my fingertips. Having played 1-9 I must say it was a nice marathon of classic control challenges and 8-bit audio/video. Things hold up nicely as I play Megaman 9-the newest Megaman game released September 2008. A retro game released in a High Definition arena manages to hold its ground. I do recommend playing the first 6 Megaman games before jumping into Megaman 9.

Refresh - Gamespot gets a new look.

The fan fav site gets a new layout, and I like to look at it even more.

Having been with this site for four years, I like to see new ideas and people progress GS to what it is and will become.

Thanks for the hard work GS staff. Keep it coming.

PLAY time at Comicon 2008

I was only there for a day (other engagements), but I had a great time in the 5 hour window that I was given. Collected the number 33 issue of the Tomb Raider comic series. That completes my numerical collection of the comic series, but I have plenty of variants to track down, and there are hundreds.

I ran into Sauve Clement, an artist whose work is pure pause-worthy and deserves acknowledgement. Head over to www.clementsauve.com and check out his style. He's into gaming and Masamune Shirow, so he's already in the good book. I have commissioned him (which he was actually open for) to do a Lara Croft piece inspired by the Underworld game by Crystal Dynamics. It should be a great experience.

Immediately following my time with Clement, I meet up with Dave Halverson, publisher for PLAY magazine. Great enthusiasm for games and the words and images that get them exposure. He spoke to me about the rights and wrong of game reviewing, and what it takes to gather all the art work for PLAY's annual Girls of Gaming issues. He likes Tomb Raider, but not a fan of Metal Gear Solid. So he's not half bad.

Both Clement and Halverson made my short-lived Comicon this year a productive one. Last year I did get to hang out with Ricardo Torres for a day, so that's a consecutive win-win for my Comicon experiences.

Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend the Comicon in 2009. I'll be deployed, but still playing games, and surfing the gaming web.
