[QUOTE="airraido"][QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"] Sony seemed to do it with the PSOne and PS2. Why would it be impossible to do it again? Remember, people once said Ninty was down and out, and look what they did.Lionheart08

That's because Nintendo is smart. They have a huge staple of franchise that appeal to all consumers. They are innovative. They can win on first party alone. Sony has none of these advantages.

That certainly helped with the Nintendo 64 and Gamecube.

Nintendo has casual franchises now; Wii Sports. WiiFit. Wiiplay. WiiMusic ect. (ie games that never stop selling) Those are console killers.

For the first time in over 10 years, I bet they are laughing at everyone, until PS4, Xbox whatever I dont care and the next nintendo. The Winner always deserve to laugh the losers, specially if they lose money, but hey sony is about to break even. This gen isnt over yetAgentA-Mi6
Sony just posted a 500 million loss and you're saying they're about to break even? I'm going to need a link sir!

[QUOTE="airraido"][QUOTE="Junior_AIN"]So, Sony laughed at Nintendo during two generations, including the generation they debuted in the video-games market, what makes now such a big deal? Remember, there's always tomorrow...Mutt523
At least Nintendo was making money through every generation. Not losing their shirts like Sony is now.

Nintenedo may be making alot of money but in my eyes its the worst of the three next gen systems.Motion controls seemed like a good idea but turned out to ruin the game. They never got any good games and there graphics are realy sad compared to ps3/360.And yes Sony is loosing money on ps3 systems for being nice but are getting money from their games

I doubt any of the big three care about things through your eyes when they look at their finanical earnings.

They are now, but when the PS3 hits the $200 sweet spot they will start to feel the heat

The Wii does not have much room to drop in price, so I expect they will be the first to launch next gen (if their next console is even considered current gen)

lol Cows think the PS3 Pricedrop is going to save them. Name me one time in history it ever has.

It has sold pretty well as the most expensive console

Do you seriously doubt that a $100 drop in price would change things

It's not going to pull PS3 out of last that's for sure. Sales drops only ever amount to a momentary blip in additional sales. They always have.

[QUOTE="airraido"][QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"] That assumes that there will be no more consoles after this. Its a market, and it ebbs and flows. Magnavox was on top, Atari was on top, Ninty was on top, Sega almost made it there, Sony was on top....it always shifts, and it comes down to which manufacturers best give the consumers what they want at the start of the generation.SpruceCaboose
Nintendo needed to be creative, innovative and daring to get back where they were. Unfortunatley Sony posseses none of these traits.

Sony did dominate during the PS2 AND PS1 genre. Its only fair Nintendo gets to laugh for now.

Whoever laughs last...

The Nintendo and Sony console never happend way back when, and alot of people said Nintendo made a huge mistake during the PS1/PS2 generation, but this generation has more than made up for it with Wii and DS being the fastest selling portable + console of all time. Plus Nintendo is dominating the first party software charts like never before. Altogether they are absolutley raking in the dough posting record profits while Sony is down in the slums of defeat and despair posting record losses. Nintendo must be laughing at Sony behind closed doors right now saying things like "Sony... lol ... Sony".
