though the price of a console is considerably less than the same power in a PC. so consoles are for people who dont have thousands of pounds to to genrally burn when the urge takes them. i have both and prefer console for the sheer fact that i spent £700 ontop of my £1000 PC to upgrade it and my 360 is still more powerful and runs games alot better. and online play is easier. it only takes WoW or EVE to get to console and we might be seeing the biggest migration ever.
wow, now ive spent £34 on the game, i only have to spend another £1450 upgrading my PC to make it run! its ridiculous, why make a game thats targeting the 95th percentile? this just seems like a developer's experiment as to how good graphics/physics can get. noone can really play this game as they intended unless you make a flick book out of the stop motion you get back. 15FPS? whats the point? the only way to run this game on the PC they used is on medium XP. sort of destroys the whole point of vista doesnt it? though this is only based on the demo so expect alot worse framerates when you get it.
Sony have had thier sucess with the PS2, and what a success it was! now, Sony is at the bottom of the pile, even before the removal of the emotion engine. and that would have been fine also, IF THEY LOWERED THE PRICE! but they didnt, and the result will be that every shop will get 5 consoles and if they're lucky, about 1 of those consoles will be sold. i dont think even the mighty "smash my ipod" crew would waste energy breaking a ps3 as theres no innards. so sony has really cocked this one up real good.
BF2 expert kit badges. 100 hours playing as one kit. !?!?!?!??!?!??!?! and there are 7 of them. so in total you need to spend 700 HOURS to get all of them. im sorry, but thats just sad, ive equated that to about half a year of non stop playing, with no food, sleep or anything else, even loading screens and kit selection and round changing. and on the subject of BF2, the amount of servers that use "only strike at karkand" and nothing else. the game came with loads of maps yet the main ones that i see are karkand, wake 2007 and jahalabad. why not play dalian? i hear people say, because its too big for infantry, it isnt! play a 16 player game and it isnt!. another thing that i get very annoyed about is those parts in games where it has a puzzle to get to open up something to let you out, yet they put the unlocking mechanism in the most stupid of places. like in HL2, in the sewers there is a part where you need to get through a tunnel but the tunnel ins high in the air so you have to find something to get there, crates? dont work. there is actualy a very small lever in a barly inaccessable place to raise the water level. im sorry but thats way too hard when i play a game. it took me about 30 minutes to figure out where it was. sniping does not bother me as i am a sniper. what annoys me the most is games that "twitch" the moment you want to take a shot, that split second freeze that means your PC doesnt recognise that youve pressed the mouse button and doesnt fire the weapon. then the other guy knifes you.
as ive said, and ill say it again Vista is a buy later product. at its present time, vista is like where XP was when it came out, buggy and a bit flawed but all the game developers are jumping on the band wagon so you will as well, just not yet, supreme commander is using both DX10 and 9 as is stalker. when crysis and GRAW2 come out, then its time to upgrade so start saving people! and to those few who say that Macs rule and windows is rubbish.... i really dont care, im just comforted by the fact that i have a huge selection of games to chhose from whereas you are stuck with about 10 games. so go cry to your 360! and before you call me a windows whore or something similar, i own both, but i use windows more, IN YOUR FACE!
wow look! another OS from windows. oh! now look at the price. £150 for the premium upgrade. not lloking so attractive now is it? to be honest, there is no point getting it yet because for now all you get is XP with a new graphicy window and a few features. not much for gaming at the present time. and its sucks on your PC. 1 GIG of RAM just to run the bugger! ill stick with my XP for the mo while i save up the £1500 to buy all the parts as well to make vista worthwhile when games start using it. EDIT and also, dont you HAVE to buy a DX10 Graphics Card (the 8800) for it to work on games? i know it still runs DX9 but do the current DX9 cards have anything to whack them into DX10?
ive got: AMD Athlon 64 3800+ A8N32-SLI Deluxe 1 GB RAM Nvidia Winfast 7600GT extreme edition smooth as a babys arse. not going to have to upgrade for this game.
the PS3 will go like this. march 2007: playstation delayed until next month because of "production problems" april 2007: playstation 3 released, few people buy because of ludicris price. and because of distribution of consoles (about 10 per shop probably) may 2007: games shops forced to drop price because of low sales. games shops unhappy with sony because of lost profits june 2007: everyone buys the PS3 because of the drop in price. games shops rejoice and buy more. july 2007: sony gets thier figures of sales all over the world since april and are shocked because of their low sales in the opening year and are forced to reduce output. august 2007: my birthday so this is when im getting it, MGS4 released for PS3 and almost every home in the world has a PS3. this is how i see events turning out. so overall PS3 wil be a failiure not because its rubbish, it the best console out of the 3, but because of price and release date. and because europe is going to have to wait even longer for the decent version (120GB one with the HDMI capability) means they would have lost thier european market almost instantly. well done Sony.
