Chrono. Then again, I'd kill for a new Chrono game on the 360, PS3, PC, DS, PSP, GameCube, Neo Geo Pocket Color, WonderSwan, Phantom...

I have a system designed for quiet computing and occasional gaming. ***WARNING: MANY PICTURES AHEAD!***

Specs:
-Phenom X4 9500 @ 2.31GHz (basically just bumped up to 9600 levels
-ECS A770M-A mobo (yeah, yeah, I know, not a good brand, but it was the cheapest AM2+ mobo with 2600MHz HTT out at the time)
-Radeon HD3850 512MB
-4GB DDR2 800 RAM @ 420MHz (due to CPU overclock)
-WD 640GB HDD
-Corsair HX620W
-Tuniq Tower 120
-Rocketfish/Lian-Li full-tower case, with stock fans
-Windows Vista Home Basic

The case

Here's the outside of the case. Not much to see here...

The guts

Here's the inside. The cabling looks like a mess, but it's really not that bad, since most of the cables are taped out of the airflow path.

Hard drive

To reduce vibrations, I have the hard drive resting on a rectangle of 1" eggcrate foam. Placing it face down like this also dampens seek noise. You can also see where holes on the bottom have been taped up to keep air flowing where I want it to go.

Video card

With the side fan removed, you can see the 3850 with a modified Accelero S1 attached. Basically, I just bent the heatsink so I could keep the side fan on the case. Its cooling ability is excellent, even without the side fan running.

Side panel

Sorry, this is hard to photograph. I've affixed roofing tape to the side panels (plus the front panel) to dampen vibrations and add mass, both important elements in reducing resonance in an aluminum case.

The front

Here's the front. There are two DVD drives (a relic of the system's distant past as an old eMachines computer), a fan controller, and a little storage drawer. On the bottom, you can see the fan hole with a rather dusty filter...gotta get around to cleaning it. I cut out the grill here with tin snips, helping the airflow. I also removed the grill on the back of the case (not pictured).

Fan controller

Here's the Scythe Kama Master fan controller. I like how it monitors RPMs, and the temp monitor would be nice if I'd set any of it up. The third RPM monitor (not lit up in this picture) controls the side fan. The Tuniq isn't being controlled by this - it would have been too much of a pain to set up. The fans are set to a constant low speed, which, combined with the quiet power supply, modified case, and decoupled hard drive, make for a near inaudible compute, even when gaming.

Work space

And the actual workspace...isn't very interesting. There's an Olevia TV/monitor without height adjustment (not a good monitor, but I needed the TV functions), a Microsoft ergonomic keyboard (pretty good), and a Gyration gyroscopic air mouse, which has terrible reliability and skips all over the place. Like the pic says, don't buy one, even though the "air mouse" feature is really cool.

The 3850/70 have very low power consumption compared to most modern cards, so I say you should go for it. If the 6800 works, so should either of these cards.

First, if you're looking for in-depth advice on building a quiet PC, you should check out the articles and forums of SilentPCReview, which is the best site for this kind of project. (No offense intended to the forumites here, but quiet computing isn't the raison d'etre of the Gamespot forums.) Especially look at their "Reference/Recommended" section, since that should be the most help in your search for quiet.

For cases, the best one is probably the Antec P182 (~$140). It has triple-layered side panels, the power supply has its own compartment, plus the wire management is pretty good, so you can tuck away all those wires for better airflow. Other good choices include the Antec Solo/Sonata (smaller), the NZXT Hush, and anything from the Lian Li Lancool series. BTX isn't a good choice, mainly because there aren't very many of them, and the BTX-styIe cases out there (mostly by Lian Li) are by and large not constructed for quietness first.

Hard drives: Either the Samsung F1 or the WD 640GB drives (~$100-200) are probably the best for 3.5" drives, in terms of noise and performance. For even greater noise reduction, you can use a laptop drive, which tend to be quieter and less prone to vibration. The site linked above will have more info in their Storage section.

CPU cooling: There are many options here, with many of the top performers being very similar to one another. However, the best of the best include the Thermalright HR-01 Plus, the Xigmatek HDT-S1283, and the Scythe Ninja. The Thermalright costs about $50 but is the best performer, and the Xigmatek is not far behind and costs about $35. The Ninja is great as a completely passive cooler, but isn't quite as good in regular fanned operation.

Video cards: You shouldn't get the 4870X2 if you're concerned about noise. You will practically be limited to the stock cooler, which will almost certainly be noisy. Either the 4850 or the 4870 can have their coolers replaced, and are plenty powerful for most gamers. The Accelero S1 (~$25-30) is currently the best passive GPU heatsink out there, and fits on both of the mentioned ATI cards. The nVidia GTX 260/280 aren't compatible with any third-party heatsink out there, and should thus be avoided.

Fans: Scythe S-Flex or Slipstream, Nexus Real Silent, and anything by Noctua are what you should be looking for. Ther are several ways to control the fan speed, from using an arleady-quiet fan (such as a Slipstream 500rpm super-low-power fan), using a fan controller, and modifying the wires leading to the fans.

Power supply: The Corsair HX520 ($110-140)/620($130-180) are excellent choices - I own the 520W, and it's superbly quiet. The Enermax PRO82/MODU82 are also supposed to be top-notch.

Besides a simple list of parts, there are several techniques for quieting a PC, including soft-mounting the HDD (suspending it in elastic, placing it on foam, etc.), cutting out restrictive fan grills on cases with $10 worth of tools, and replacing the fans of power supplies to make them even quieter.

What needs to happen is simple they need to step away from the golden boy who does nothing wrong and is flawless. Darker Heroes or Heroes with at least some flaws are just more interesting to me this needs to happen to Link or at least have the option of it happening, he doesn't need to always like or want to do the right thing.

I prefer a Darker Hero or at least an option to be Darker more Evil etc. I would like to see an option to be a Dark Link or options and choices that would turn you one way or the other + he looks better in black IMO and could use a bit more of a bad boy Attitude.

Yes! The dark antihero is certainly an original idea that hasn't been flogged to death in countless games over the past 5-6 years, and would add a lot to the Zelda franchise. After all, this idea has created so many memorable characters..

Shadow!

Bomberman Act Zero!

The Warrior Within! (only this was a pretty good game, antihero aside)

What Needs to happen in future Zelda Gamestopic

Whatever Shigeru Miyamoto says should happen in them.

Dunno how long exactly I've been here, but I remember when all those crazy rumors about the Revolution and how it was going to change video games as we know them. The detailed analyses of why it would include a 3D projector, the accusations of conspiracies and hidden messages, and those glorious (:?) Aries rumors, sending Nintendo fanatics into a frenzy; it was a crazy time in Nintendo history.

The regular Program Files folder is for 64-bit programs, whereas the x86 folder is for the 32-bit programs built for earlier operating systems (i.e. XP).
