Sorry to say, but you're not going to find much for gaming in that price range. The closest I could find were these two cards: a 2600XT for $60 and an 8600 GTS for $65 ($55 after rebate). Nothing $50 or below is good for gaming, unless you're playing older games.

EDIT: But yeah, check eBay first.

Everything you list will work together. However, I see some problems with it.

1. You're taking a risk on getting a dead board with that open-box item. Newegg has a refund policy for it, but if it is dead, it's going to be a pain disassembling everything to ship it back.

2. The card is fine, but is no longer the best choice for price/performance. You have a few ways to go here. You can add $30 upfront and get a superior HD 4850, or you can lower the price by about $30 and get the slightly inferior 9600 GT. The second option would give you more money to get a better (and boxed!) mobo, such as this one.

3. It's worth it to add $10 to get a better processor, the E7200, since the performance increase is greater than the small dollar increase.

4. That case will work, but...eh, I don't like it too well. The rear fan is majorly restricted, and would benefit tremendously from some simple tin-snip modding. On the other hand, there's not much else available in that price range with similar quality and space, unless you want an Alienware-esque NXZT case.I like this Rosewill case, and it's very builder-friendly (I own one), but you won't have much room for a huge VGA card in the future.

As for a power supply, this Antec 500W is on sale right now and is a quality unit.

Yes, they will work. PCI-E 2.0 is really more of a marketing gimmick than a real improvement. To the best of my knowledge, modern consumer graphics cards don't use even the full PCI-E 1.1 bandwidth, let alone touching 2.0 levels.

That temp is normal for video cards, especially those with single-slot coolers like the 8800GT. If you've had no problems with it so far, you have no reason to worry.

SilentPCReview is the best source for noise-related issues, so I'd suggest looking at their fan recommendations: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article63-page2.html

I'd also second Yate Loon fans if you're on a budget. Their reputation is excellent among quiet PC enthusiasts.

There seem to be several reasons for the dislike of Gamestop.

1. Trade-in values of games aren't as high as some would like. For example, I thought that RPG Maker 3 was worth more than the $12-15 they offered. I don't know how much it's really worth, since it's collecting dust in storage right now, so maybe it was a fair offer:?

2. Stickers and gutting. Yes, this is annoying, and it would be great if they'd stop doing this.

3. Employees:
a. Gamestop supposedly treats their employees poorly, pressuring them to sell preorders, subscriptions, warranties, etc. I also remember hearing bad things about their hiring/firing policies around the holidays? I don't remember the specific criticism.

b. The employees are ignorant/rude/whatever. I've personally not noticed this, but I don't make a habit of chatting with strangers.

4. The company has bought up other game chains. I liked Funcoland and their 9-cent Nintendo cartridges, for example.

5. Some people just hate big businesses.

No, it was awful. Controls were terrible and instead of 12 great minigames you get 50 lousy ones.

Pick up Super Monkey Ball 2 for Gamecube. MUCH better.

Generic_Dude

I agree. It seems like Super Monkey Ball would be perfectly suited for Wii controls, but the execution is far less intuitive than using a stick. Plus, the remote's speaker seems to constantly blare some annoying sound effect or other, and it becomes irritating. SMB2, on the other hand, is superb.

So... if Apple makes a gaming system... what do we call those fanboys?cterry04

Zombies (they overwhelm discussions in groups)? Parrots (spouting the company line incessantly)? There are some good options available.

(Note: I personally have nothing against Apple or its supporters, and the Macbook is pretty nifty, so don't gnaw on my intestines, Apple fans ;) )

I'll just copy and paste this reply I had to an earlier thread about this subject, since it's relevant and I think that WWI games are entirely feasible.

"Not ALL of WWI was fought in trenches. For example, Germany/France's opening consecutive offensives saw fairly rapid movement and attempts to flank the enemy (at least the Germans did), with nary a ditch to be dug. This quickly gave way to trench warfare, certainly, but it didn't have to happen. Moreover, the eastern battles between Russia and Germany saw no trench warfare, with both sides making rapid deployments, attempts to encircle, and even a couple of rogue German corps commanders attacking a Russian army against the orders of the army commander. I think this aspect of WWI, often overlooked in Western accounts of the war, would make a decent video game. Granted, it might seem like a slower WWII game without tanks or Nazis, but it wouldn't be the popular image of trench warfare."
