I don't know what the Thermaltake engineers were thinking when they made that hole in the bottom of the case, since it won't have any effect when the case is in its normal upright position. Actually, it looks even worse, since there is so little room between the PSU and the bottom of the case that there is no path for the air to flow, especially if the case is on a carpeted floor.

Try removing the dust filter from the hole and block it with something like a sheet of paper taped over it. It may help reduce noise, but I doubt it, since TT has done its usual job of paying little attention to well-managed airflow and even less to acoustics. Raising the power supply just a half-inch higher above the bottom would have improved the airflow and noise significantly. As it is, the restrictive airflow creates so much static pressure that it can't help but create too much noise.

Basketball is my favorite sport. I love they way they dribble up and down the court.GrindingAxe
LOL. I thought of that song when I saw the thread title, too.

Anyway, basketball is my number one sport, and then I guess baseball falls in a distant second.

2. Should i attempt to overclock it? Can i overclock my CPU/GPU on this motherboard?:

http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/motherboards/d945gcnl/d945gcnl-overview.htmstrider_ATI

Older Intel mobos like yours won't have any OC'ing features for the CPU.

3. Is the upgrade worth it? I currently have the GF 8500 GT, will i see a big performance increase?strider_ATI

The GSO is a pretty hefty increase from what you have, and it should be roughly 3-4 times more powerful than the 8500GT. At your resolution, the 9800GT or HD4830 would be a better fit (especially considering the demanding games you want to play), but the GSO is a good choice for its price.

4. At what settings should i expect to play bia:hh, crysis, CoD5 and fallout 3?strider_ATI

Crysis will probably top out at Medium settings, CoD5 should be mostly High, and I don't know as much about the others.

Is it a wireless mouse? I used to have trouble with a wireless mouse, and the problem was that the receiver was blocked by the back of my computer and the desk. After moving it into the open to a front USB port, it worked fine. Another possibility, assuming a wireless, is interference from other wireless signals (cell phone, laptop, Wii, etc.) If your mouse isn't wireless, I have no suggestions.

That's exactly what I'm saying. Here are power consumption graphs from X-Bit Labs showing their similarity (could only find the 8600GTS power figures, but they aren't too different I'm sure):

8600GTS

HD 4670

Well I guessed people would recommend me the 4670 because I was looking at it and it seems good, however here are my specs.

PCI Express motherboard

2 gigs ram

300W power output

AMD Athlon 64 3800+, single core

(I only play RTS games like RA3, CoH, some WoW, and planning on getting DoW2 and/or SC2)

So I don't think that I will be able to handle the HD 4670 since I believe the power output needs to be 350-400W? Correct me if I am wrong because I will get the 4670 in a heartbeat if I knew I would be able to run it, however the I KNOW I wont be able to run the 9600 GT.

KonKing
You should have no trouble with the 4670, since its power consumption is about the same as the 8600GT - it might even be lower. Even the 9600GT would pose little problem (except for the PCI-E connector your PSU probably doesn't have). An Athlon single-core system probably consumes less than 100W at full load with integrated graphics - adding a 9600GT might bump that up to 150-160W. Either GPU would be fine.

The one i the first link has 512MB of memory and requires a rebate to bring it down to $60, while the second has a 1GB of memory (which makes absolutely no difference with such slow memory) and is $60 without a rebate. Of these two, the second card is better because it is cheaper without a rebate, but I wouldn't get either one, even if you're not looking for a powerful card. This HD 4670 is much better for only $75 ($55 after rebate), and a 9600GT is even more powerful yet for about $75 after rebate.

There's only one professional review of it out there (by Anandtech, who are pretty good about PSU testing), but they think it's good quality. You could probably do a lot worse than this PSU.

Many of the announcer's phrases in NBA Jam: "He's on fire!" "Boom-shakalaka!" "Is it the shoes?"

Frog's ribbit in Chrono Trigger.

The squishy sound of a zombie's footsteps in Resident Evil.

It's a song, so it might not count, but the Peter Gunn theme will always be Spy Hunter to me.

EDIT: And, of course, "Hey! Listen!"

If it helps any, CNet has recommended picture settings for a smaller version of your TV, which should be identical except for screen size. You could try these out and see if they give you a good enough picture.
