I feel like I'd do better without it. I hate it when a dude runs across your screen and it drags your aim towards him when you're aiming at another dude.

Yes i hear you 100% man, that really bothers me, I feel I would be more consistant without the magnetism because your brain learns that if you move the stick that much, it will move that much in the game, but with the aim assist and the magnetism you can never be as consistant(muscle memory)

So that's true then, it's around 100-200ms?

Damn that's terrible, I thought it would be around 50-100 at the most with 4 bars.

also, there are 2 different functions in this whole aim assit thing.

1) magnetism - that's your cursor actually slowing down when aiming at someone. "sticky" aim.
2) auto-aim - the bullets actually curving towards the target. say your cursor is on the outside of a character, the bullets will actually gravitate towards them.

True, I refer to the magnetism which really gets annoying

first off, you are talking to an old school halo 1 player. roughly 7 years playing that on xbox. and it has ALOT less aim assist than the new CoD's, but it still has some, a small amount.

but try a game that has little to none. PDZ. now, I loved that game for how much skill it took to aim.....but most hated it because it was too hard.

lespaul1919

exactly my point, if they were 'forced' to actually use skill and practice to be able to kill with not autoaim, Eventually people would get used to it and we wouldn't need it, I can see how newer games that want to attract newer gamers give this as a crutch but CoD come on, even if they took off the autoaim it would easily sell as much. I guess they wanna make it as noob appealing as it could be.

Its not very noticeable for the most part and as long as it runs as more of a crutch to fix the handicap of the controller versus a tool for players to use and abuse for kills then Im all good with it...alextherussian

It's not very noticeable? oh boy, it's more than very noticeable, sometimes when you want to kill someone and your crosshair happens to pass by a guy behind a wall or whatever your crosshair will totally slow down, it's annoying sometimes.

they upped it from mw1, there wasnt such an aim assist on the first one, i think they made it even stronger?

no, without it console players would never hit anything. between the sticks and laggy P2P connection you actually need aim assit.

lespaul1919

I don't agree, the sticks are actually quite good man, I've played on the pc for years and years and years, and trust me once you get used to the gamepad, oh boy every kill gives you incredible satisfaction. :]

console gaming, you are looking at P2P pings. so a solid 100-200. which is terrible. but, console's have aim assist and things built in to help with that.

I'd rather play with no aim assist and 33 ping.

lespaul1919

I just posted a topic about aim assist hahaha how weird.

I've been playing modern warfare 2(360) since it came out, and before that i played mw1 on the ps3, for like 6 months, but to get to my point.

Do you guys like the aim assist on multiplayer? I mean everyone has it, but don't you think we could be more consistant without it? just a thought, or maybe they could have a playlist with this turned off, I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to make (sv_autoaim 0) haha.

Thoughts?

Former pc gamer, now play on ps3 and 360, and for the most part its alright, but I'm wondering what's an approximate of your ping when you're in a game? for example, I played counter strike for years and years on the computer and I mostly and only played with less than 40 ping, anything above 35 really made a difference in my gaming(honestly i was really good at this game, made it to cal p not saying this to brag but to show you that i'm not just a noob that didn't kno better), and I see when i play on 360 (mw2) that a lot of the shots that kill me are really bullshots, not because they are skilled but, for example I have already gone around the corner into a 'safe spot' but all of sudden i get killed, and when i watch the killcam i see them shooting into the air and gettin the hit for it... sometimes that makes me mad (and yes I understand there are wallshots, and whatnot, but I don't think the bullet curves around the corner to kill me.

Anyway I enjoy the game nevertheless, but I don't understand why they don't make dedicated servers for the 360? I like the fact that you could just jump into a game real quick with matchmaking and stuff but I think it would be a better experience for everyone if we could have access to dedicated servers.

PS: off topic, As i was posting this (in between games) I got spawn killed by a claymore... how gay is that hahaa.
