The problem is that it's already too late, if you're a smarth consumer and didn't fall into the hype machine then kudos to you.
The marketing machine did its job already and the game already sold enough to not worry about these reviews, due to the online nature of the game and the gigantic hype it has I think it was pretty dumb to no let reviewers get some copies before launch,
This what I call the "watch dogs syndrome", everybody falling into the hype train that is nothing more than marketing stunts, all the budget goes to marketing instead of going to development and they end doing a mediocre product.
@dani3po @alenth @thehollowones No, that community is pretty honest and critical about their games, never saw that kind of people before with that mentality that some games must be praised just for being niche (even though some of them are way better than some AAA games nowadays), and you can verify that by going to sites like gematsu or siliconera, the problem comes when they feature some kind of fan service, the bias is always the same and based on that the game gets a bad score, and you can verify that on any game that has some kind of feature around it, and that's when the reviewers shine with their unprofesionalism and ignorance on most mainstream gaming sites, when it comes to this reviews I often check sites with more knowledgeable reviewers that have some experience on this market even on some famous gaming blogs, of course it's not for everybody but that doesn't mean you have to dismiss an entire game just because of some fan service, in this case, this review is completely innacurate.
@thehollowones It isn't shielded from criticism but the problem here is that for the games that come from the niche japanese market the reviews are soo unprofesional in most maintream gaming sites and the reviewers always put their personal bias before judging the product by its own merits plus their their lack of experience on this market, that's why you will never find games like hyperdimension neptunia, drakengard, YS, Demons Gaze, everything from NIS, Xseed and even falcom getting good reviews on sites like this one, Polygon, IGN, etc.
This doesn't happen with this game only, it happens a lot with different japanese games, their lack of experience and knowledge around this market makes them judge these games in a complete unfair way based on things that have nothing to do with the games themselves..
"Josiah Renaudin spent most of his childhood maxing out any JRPG that he could get his hands on. He still enjoys exploring some of the most obscure Japanese titles that hit PlayStation consoles,"
