[QUOTE="nintendo-4life"][QUOTE="mmirza23"] You can but that blu ray player may not support profile 2.0mmirza23and what the hell is profile 2? :| Profile 2.0 supports BD-live internet connection, 1.1 added the PIP for commentary and 1 was the initial profile. The PS3 is one of the very few players that can upgrade profiles VIA firmware update which is why its considered the best blu ray player out.
This Samsung player has it and is only $250, possibly cheaper elsewhere.

As far as the other post of mine that you replied to, yep, people's eyes are different, but if something was vastly superior visually, I'd think it would be obvious to everyone. Don't get me wrong now, I'm not trying to put BR down, I'm just kind of a stickler for word choice. If I had a PS3, I would probably invest the little extra if the sound really is that much better. I have noticed that on some DVDs the sound isn't that great.
[QUOTE="nintendo-4life"][QUOTE="aliasfreak"]i thought the reason we needed bluray was for 1080P... WTF is going on here? 1080p upconverting and Blu-ray are not even in the same league, the visuals are vastly superior and dont even get me started on the sound. The problem with blu ray is that you need a 1080p tv + a great sound system to take full advantage of it. BD live is also coming around and adds extra features not available on DVD.You'll be even better if you have a 1080P DVD upconverter (which is cheap).

As far as my eyes go, BR is not vastly superior visually. My brother has a PS3 and when he saw a DVD running on our upconverter, he asked if we had an HD player. I know, "my brother" stories don't carry any weight, but screw it, I don't care if you believe me.
Tempting...but I think I'll be fine with a DVD.ToScA-

In this thread you have two kinds of people.
The first kind which like myself are going "So...? What's the problem with this?"
The second kind are fanboys who think Sony shouldn't try to sell consoles. Then they will turn around and laugh at Sony for not selling enough consoles.

Allow me to quote the TC: "and finally it will be record breaking Dark Knight bluray seller. Hope you all watch the Sony new ads with PS3/Dark Knight... this will deliver huge PS3 sales for the holiday... i won't be surprise if they bring out Dark Knight PS3 bundle. "
I think the thing we take issue with him saying that this will deliver huge PS3 sales. Also, the idea that a single 2 hour movie is going to get someone to buy a $400 console is crazy.

[QUOTE="deathtoallgods"]Why would they shell out the extra cash for a game system when they can get a Blu-ray player for half the price?deathtoallgods
Geez I don't know maybe 'cause some people like videogames and movies and they can buy a PS3 which does both.
Man what a crazy thing, for people to enjoy both movies and videogames. Ok and wouldn't those folks already have purchased the console? Why wait for Dark Knight?
Exactly. I doubt a 2 hour movie is what will push gamers/movie buffs into finally shelling out $400 on a PS3. That would be idiotic imo.
[QUOTE="rybe1025"]We heard this all before with Spider Man. If games for a game console like MGS4 and RfoM and LBP can not do it then why would a movie push the sales for a game console? A person can buy a blu-ray for $150 so no reason to spend $400.RuinedMachine

Think about it. Chances are that the people who want a PS3 for games and movies are not going to be swayed by an ad showing the Dark Knight (something that can be bought on DVD as well). This seems more like advertising to big movie buffs (hence the movie ad), so those people can get a half-price BR player.
To be accurate, the article says that only 8% are CONSIDERING upgrading. Therefore, the researching suggests that less than 8% actually will.
Personally, I'm perfectly happy with my 1080p upconverter.
The best game (imo) is either Bioshock or Mass Effect. I'll probably have to give it to Mass Effect. Like someone else said about MGS4, with Mass Effect, I just couldn't stop playing it and yet really didn't want it to end.
Mario Kart (either the SNES or 64 version, can't remember which one is the one I loved) is high up there. I LOVED that game. I have never had more fun with multiplayer than that.
As for the whole MGS4 debate, haven't played it and don't want to. MGS2 bored me to death (not literally), so my excitement over MGS4 is nearly nonexistant.
[QUOTE="Dick_Derringer"][QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]If God of War 2 is a sequal, so is Gears of War 2. And yes, both are sequels. Stop trying to argue against reality.

No, both a expansion packs pretending to be sequels.
Half-Life 2 is a sequel. Fallout 3 is a sequel.
So why dont you tell us what you think a true Gears of War sequal should entail. Perhaps you'll realize that you have a convaluted sense of the difference between an expansion and a sequal..which led you to create this stupid thread and get into pointless arguements with everyone on SW. It seems that everyone argueing with you agrees on what a sequal entails and you're the only one with a different understanding? At least explain yourself. Half life 2 is a sequal, Fallout 3 is a sequal.. Gears 2 is not a sequal.. clarify why??
I too was wondering what his definition of a sequel is. Here's to hoping he provides one.
