Sure the Sengoku period is the most interesting one according to many, but seeing the same names same stories over and over becomes boring. Many people that are not into history probably don't care. If you're creative enough you can come up with very interesting plots no matter what. I'm glad that they decided to focus on the 13th century, the Mongol invasion is interesting enough. And you probably know nothing about it same as most of the people that are interested in this game. I don't want to see again how Nobunaga dies or becomes some kind of a demon, or how Tokugawa unites the land for don't know what time. I can't believe I see a game with samurais that's about the Kamakuran period and the developers are not even Japanese. Sucker Punch nailed it IMO.
@kiloman_74: And if they don't focus on the Sengoku period they focus on late Heian where Yoshitsune lived and you end up hearing his name a lot. Basically the Japanese developers focus on the same periods which is disappointing.
@kiloman_74: You don't get it. The Japanese developers always focus on the Sengoku period which is annoying. Most of the time when I play a samurai or a ninja game I hear the name Nobunaga or Tokugawa, or even both.
