@Coseniath: I'll give that a go, thanks for the help coseniath. How will I know if it's pushing more GHz? Will it show up on the bios? Or on CPU z?

@Coseniath: It's not the "K" version, I guess that's not good, I had no plans to overclock back when I bought it.

horgen:Thanks, but I can't find anything that remotely suggest CPU multiplier, here's what I have...

The first photo is the top of "OC Tweaker".

The second photo is the bottom of "OC Tweaker".

The third photo is under "CPU Configuration" under the "Advanced" tab.

I don't see any reason to upgrade at all for Fallout 4.

+1.

@amcoops: Also, do you really need 1TB SSD?

1TB of storage space is nice, but 1TB SSD is totally overkill.

You can grab 500GB SSD for windows/games and keep your 500GB HDD for other storage. And keep the rest $150-200 to your pocket. :P

Video games these days are far too big, 500GB is not what it used to be.

Encountering issues, as always when dealing with computers...

I'm looking to overclock my CPU, I was following this guide which looked pretty good at first, but then is goes on to say under "Starting off..." that the goal is to "Achieve the highest stable multiplier with lowest positive Turbo Boost voltage." It doesn't talk about the "cpu multiplier" at all during the explanation of everything and then acts like I should now exactly what it is. I've found out how the increase the core voltage but there's so much other stuff that comes into it, can anyone explain this guide to me?

I decided to create a recovery drive through Windows 10 because not only is it good to have one but it can help me migrate the OS to my SSD. So I clicked "create a recovery drive" with a 64GB usb stick in and ready, sorry..."We can't create a recovery drive" with an added "A problem occurred while creating the recovery drive". Well thanks, apparently Windows 10 can't create recovery drives, so where do I turn?

Thanks for your time.

Awesome guys thanks a lot. Like I say my system was built in 2011, I've upgraded my GPU, PSU and introduced the liquid cooling module since then. I was kind of worried that my system was bottlenecking my GPU which I bought in 2013 but if you guys don't think so I'll take your word for it.

I've never looked into overclocking to be honest but I was worried that my CPU wasn't quite cutting it so I'll do that. I have EVGA PrecisionX 16 installed, would I use that to overclock my CPU or use the motherboard software?

EDIT: New to solid-state drives, would this be sufficient?

So last time I fully upgraded my system was back in 2011 when Skyrim came out (I've upgraded bits here and there since then), but with Fallout 4 on the horizon I feel that now would be a good time to gut and renew. Here is my current system...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OS - Windows 10 64-bit

CPU - Intel Core i5-2500 @ 3.3GHz (with a Corsair H80i liquid cooling module attached)

GPU - GTX 780 3gb

RAM - 8gb Corsair

Motherboard - Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

HDD - Some rubbish 512gb hdd

PSU - 750W Corsair builder series

Case - NZXT Apollo

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've already set my sights on getting a 1tb solid-state drive to replace my hard drive.

So, is there anything from this system I can salvage and put into a new system that you guys are so kindly going to help me construct? I don't really want to spend much over £800.

Thank you.

I'm tempted to go for the GeForce GTX 560Ti "Phantom" 1024MB instead, it's about £65 extra, is it worth it?

Thanks for the help guys.

I've never really liked the whole concept of overclocking, correct me if I'm wrong but it feels like it would shorten the lifespan of the component.

The system I have mentioned stands at about £573 ($915), I would probably stretch to around £800 ($1,276)in an attempt to run Skyrim on the highest graphical setting possible within that budget.

Have the system specs been released for Skyrim yet? Should I wait until they have before planning my upgrade?

I'm looking to upgrade my computer for the release of Skyrim and could do with some help/advice. This is my system at the moment...

Windows Vista

NZXT Apollo Case

ASUS P5K iP35 Socket 775 ATX Motherboard
Intel Dual-Core CPU 2.33GHz
Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX Dual Channel (TWIN2X4096-6400C5C)
Palit GeForce GTS 250 Green 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Thermaltake TR2 - 500W Power Supply

I'm replacing everything but my case, OS and HDD. After doing some research and getting advice from other forums I have these components lined up...

Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor

Corsair Builder Series CX 500W V2 '80 Plus' 500W ATX Power Supply

Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

Gainward GeForce GTX 460 GS 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Now, I need some other opinions and answers to some questions. My brother used this site in the past when he built his computer and he couldn't recommend it enough to me. My questions are as follows...

1. a) I want to know about compatibility, will this all work together?

b) Will it all fit in my case?

2. Will this system be able to run Skyrim on max, or high at least?

3. When putting it together, is it as simple as unplugging my computer, sticking the parts in (keeping my old HDD) and then turning it on?

4. a) How complicated is it to install a processor?

b) Will I need to buy thermal compound or does it come with it?

c) If there's many different compounds on the market, what would you recommend?

c) How do I apply the compound?

5. What is better for RAM, 8gb dual-channel or 6gb tri-channel?

Thank you in advance for any advice you can spare, your help is greatly appreciated. :)

I have finished Fallout 3 twice already and I am having problems with the third attempt. I cannot get into Vault 87 via Murder Pass or Joseph. I completed all necessary quests to get there and went to Lamplight. I decided to do other quests and the add ons before I went into the vault. I've come back to finish it now and I can't do it. There are no conversation prompts with Joseph or the Colonel kid. I have gone back and reloaded a game from several hours before and it still won't allow me to finish it. On my Quests tab it seems to already be open. It states "retrieve the GECK". Am I screwed here? This must be some sort of glitch. I'm pretty sure I've tried everything. Has anyone had this issue and/or have a cheat code to "unlock" Murder Pass gate? When I try to trip the pulley it states "you can't do this now". Like I said, this will be my third time completing it, so I am positive I have completed all quests needed to access Vault 87. I am level 25 and have maxed out all my attributes so that's not the problem, either. I would appreciate any help. Thanks. Mitriza
I also have this problem. I can get through the gate but using "tcl" in the console, but I don't want to have to do that in case it messes up other quests.
