Depends on what exactly you consider "success" and "failure". I dont know that looking strictly at sales figures is a great standard to measure. I'm confident this thing will perform far and away better than WiiU in every way it can be judged but probably not better than the original Wii, and that system's absurd level of success contributed heavily towards WiiU's failure.

Uh-huh tell me about it. I was trying to get my son and nephew into the United Center earlier this year to watch a game but it didnt work out. Butler was the only player they recognize.
Watch out for the Timberwolves next season. As i understand it, Butler could potentially solve every issue they have right now.
I havent cleared BotW yet but i will say from what i've seen thus far, this game sets a new standard. A lot of crap just doesnt cut it anymore after playing this. I almost feel sorry for Bathesda porting that trash Skyrim on this system. I mean... really who would play that unless mods are available with this game to compete against?
So far, my only minor gripes with this game is i feel they went a little too extreme with weapon durability (although i do see why it was implemented and think it was a good idea). And i would have prefered if the abilities on the tablet-slate relic were a little bit more useful (magnetic items dont show up much, bombs do little damage, etc)
But i'm only somewhat bothered by those two issues.
I had less than zero interest in this game which was particularly dissappointing because i like the developer. From what i remember, the game just appeared to be some extended cut-scene with occasional button pressing. Add to the fact the characters didnt seem likeable or even interesting. So i'm hoping Platinum scraps this permanently and moves on to something fun and interesting. Maybe they can use some elements and assets from Scalebound but hopefully that is about it.
Hmmm still waiting on a solid fantasy action adventure game with a western setting rather than the tired, same old gothic-medeival crap constantly reused over and over.
I'll name a game from each generation.
NES- Mario3
SNES- Street Fighter2
N64- Golden Eye
Gamecube- Windwaker
Wii- Metroid Prime3
PlayStation- cant decide between Twisted Metal2 and SoTN.
Saturn- XMen CoTA
Dreamcast- Marvel vs Capcom2
PlayStation2- I've probably owned and played more games for this than any other system but nothing stands out.
Xbox360- Left4Dead, Dark Souls
PC- Pretty much exclusively Blizzard RTS games and Diablo2.
It's also worth noting the game I recommended (DkSIII) has the most accessible learning curve in the series.
@RSM-HQ:
I dont understand why people say this, its just false. DS1 is vastly easier for several reasons. It used to be that a player could breeze through the game with a good shield and upgraded weapon, pyromany as a backup. DS3 is harder because all creatures from "fodder" to bosses hit harder, have more life, break guard, and mix up their attacks. The game is also bigger, more linear and far more strict on upgrade stones and their availability. I think people who claim DS3 is more accessible is not really considering their perspective is with prior knowledge of previous Soul games' mechanics.
The game is garbage because of everything, not just combat but combat is the biggest reason. Next in line would probably be all the shallow, stripped-down features/mechanics. Following that would be unkillable NPCs.... list goes on. The only thing the game really does well is bring to life a vast explorable world. Felt like walking through a Bob Ross painting.
