American footie as you call it, has evolved a bit over the years, but not too much terribly.  The main focus of American football is tricking the defense into buying into thinking rabbits, and then pulling a rat out of the hat (so to speak).  The Defensive schemes in modern football have gotten smarter, and are cleverly disguised to look a lot a like.  Therefore, just like the offense the defense  varies a good amount of time using visual trickery to outsmart the QB and/or Running backs, and Receivers.  So it's not uncommon to see the defense use what looks like the same formation multiple times, but change up once the ball is snapped.  The QB has the option to change plays according to what he (thinks he) sees the defense showing (what their about to do....blitz, pass coverage....e.g.).  It's all a gamble by either team, and the main objective is to mix up the play calling, and trying to do so using similar formations as not to telegraph what you are about to do. If you accomplish your goal, you can move the ball 10 yards at a time or more, at least to get the first down to continue the possession of the ball.  That is when you are on offense.  When you are on defense you are trying to do the opposite; by trying to get to the QB or RB, intercept passes, pick up fumbles, and of course the defense can score touchdowns too.  So anyway, hope this helps.......any other questions ...just post specifics......This is about as detailed a synopsis can be without being to long and dull.   Smogtoe
Thank you very much, that does help alot! so can you give any hints on the best way to win the ball back when on the defence?

I think they should make Wii Sports 2. If cricket was on that, then it'd better be a helluva lot better than baseball.LOLhahaDEAD
yes but baseball is the american version of that so they opted for that... Damn nintendo xD

I was wondering if anybody had heard of any Wii Cricket game. My friend and I would love that. We are fans of cricket and would love to see the controls and how they work.

It would be fun. The Wii-mote could be your lightsaber and the nunchuck could be your other hand for the force moves.linkrul3s
I would welcome that :)
