[QUOTE="another_star"]Hey guys. so here's the story: my first 360 (a launch elite) got the RRoD at ~ March 2008. I got a replacement and received it about April 2008. (here is the link of my post from 2008 in version 2 of this thread: http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26151320&msg_id=299442493#299442493) so. honestly, the replaced 360 elite had been sitting there for most of the time. and today, i hooked it up to play COD:BO... and well, i got the 3 RRoD. I tried following the support online, and it said that my warranty ended July 2008. Shouldn't the warranty have been extended to April 2011?! Please Help!

this is the message that shows when I try to go through the online support for the 3 Red Rings: "Your Xbox product is not covered for this problem type. There will be a charge for this repair. Taxes and shipping may incur additional charges. "

Anyway I think if they actually had some value I would have more reason to actually pursue them. Right now they are pointless "oh wow I earned 250pts for wasting enough time playing Gears of War that I amassed 5 billion kills" Thats not impressive no one cares that you spent more time playing Gears then everyone else, but if you did you should get something for it besides some useless score.Sepewrath
other than entertainment, video games are useless too. achievements are part of the video game... achievement ->videogame -> entertainment.
some people have some good ideas about it...like be able to use the points to buy things for your avatar...like maybe if you get enough points from Call of Duty: World at War....then maybe you could get something like a M1 Garand for your avatar to hold...something along those linesManiac000
not such a bad idea.. but i bet the moguls up top are thinking, "if they are willing to spend hours to complete achievements and earn _____, then they are probably willing to spend money for ______"

i think you're missing the point of achievements... (no pun intended.) they're pretty much just 'bragging' rights. i've also heard it called the nerd score. -_- in addition to that, it makes the life a game longer. in addition to THAT... who would collect dogtags if it weren't for achievements? OR microsoft should charge achievement points for downloading free dlc, demos, etc.

sup everyone. [damn, i havent posted here for years!!!] anyways... GameZone 7.9 / 10 Jun 24, 2008 GameDaily 8 / 10 Jun 24, 2008 GameSpy 3.5 / 5 Jun 24, 2008 GamePro 4.5 / 5 Jun 24, 2008 1UP B- Jun 24, 2008 Gamer 2.0 8 / 10 Jun 23, 2008 Game Chronicles 9.3 / 10 Jun 23, 2008 **** Code Central 4.2 / 5 Jun 23, 2008 IGN 9 / 10 Jun 22, 2008 GamingTrend 86 / 100 Jun 22, 2008 up there, i see all A's B's, and 1 C... and then with GS... GH is given a D. somethings fishy here, isn't it? although some of their points are valid, they drop a [nintendo] game massive credibility for something like that.

This is my COMPLETE RROD Repair Center Experience:

Feb 16, 2008 - My console gets the RROD, and I call MS Support to make my shipping order/repair order.

Feb 21, 2008 - The box arrives via UPS, I package my 360.

Feb 22, 2008 - I ship my 360 via UPS to the repair center in TX.

March 4, 2008 - MS has "fixed" my console and has shipped it back to me.

March 9,2008 - I recieve my 360 via FED-EX, and it was a new unit, I also recieved that 1 month XBL Gold card.

THE END! The nightmare is over.

when you say new, do you mean brand new? or new to you?

[QUOTE="another_star"]hello all. i got the ring of death about 1 1/2 months ago. they sent the box within a week of my request. i sent it back a few days after. i followed the status online. and it took about 1 week to get to the service center. so those few steps lasted roughly 2-3 weeks. i've been checking my status, and all i see is "Device received at service center." its been like that for about 3-4 weeks. does it usually take as long as this? and for the record, i have a launch elite.

hello guys. just a follow up: i checked today, and to be honest... i was petrified. why? when i was checking my status, under my "registered devices" it said "You have no registered devices". so i practically screamed "wth!!!!!!!". so i called. found out, that my 360 was unrepairable, so they are sending me a brand new 360, which is probably why it took so long to change status'. the new one was sent on the 8th, and i should get it on the 17th. [about a week from now, still pretty disappointed that i'd have to wait this long, but im really glad that it didnt just disappear. haha]
