I have Battlefield pre-ordered. I've tried countless times with no luck to get buddies to try Battlefield and they continue to play COD. So I would say COD brand name will continue to carry it on. I'm cool with either as long as you don't punish yourself by playing Medal of Honor.
I can honestly say I enjoyed Demon's Soul more than Dark Souls. I can't think of to many "Oh Crap" (censored) moments when a phantom is trying to chase you down with a meat cleaver. I need to finish Dark Souls but I got stuck playing Mass Effect Trilogy at the moment.
There are plenty of levels where you have take a moment to get your bearings but one that comes to mind for me is Demon's Souls 5-2 poison swamp. I forgot to add, any Call of Duty on veteran setting. A.I. is ridiculous with grenade accuracy and ability to shoot through anything.
I think you'll be happy with keeping with your current system. IMO the new systems are not huge jump compared to the improvements from PS3 & Xbox 360 predecessors. I have a pre-order on a 'next gen' console to play games that do not cross platform from next to current.
Sleeping Dogs is a good game because it allows you to do both sides of the law for the main quest. You can unlock different "perks" while leveling up for doing missions for police, triad, and etc. The only things I dislike is the fighting system and side missions can be tedious.
