There was a James Bond movie where everyone was African-American, that's the analogy I draw. It's an old movie; I don't know if it was controversial. The movie was the same old Bond formula.

This isn't an original video game, it's a series like Bond, and they try to spice it up.

By the way, Sessler was just saying what Croel said months ago. GGD is late to this premature discussion.

The voice acting alone is pretty incredible. I've replayed it multiple times; the facts are it is one of the very best games on the 360, although it's not the same kind of shooter as Gears or Halo; it went up against Gears of War in only one GotY, in Britain's most prestigious GotY, because of a strange schedule that particular award has, and it beat Gears of War for GotY; it won 20-30 GotY's and Halo 3 won only Time Magazine GotY, so that's not even a comparison. Don't let the ignorance or pettiness fool you, PS3 owners.

Don't call me a douche, this would actually help gaming by getting rid of one of the main argument JThompson has againt us. Black_Knight_00

We don't have to get rid of his arguments. We got rid of him.

Today the judge ordered Mr. Thompson to wrestle Uwe Boll to prove himself and save his law license.

Actually, I still can't get on gamepolitics.

I can't even get on gamepolitics.

He represented himself during his disbarment trial, if this could get anymore embarrassing.

You didn't break the Law, you just went around it. From my point of view you broke the moral purpose of the law, which is: if you're not old enough, you can't play GTA.

The correct behavior would probably have been to ignore their request. It's no big deal, though.

There's a reason for age limitations on games and if we could all respect them we'd have less people attacking our favorite hobby.

There's no spirit of the law to break because there's never been a law.

Legally it depends on the state you live in. There are no federal laws, but certain states have them. Your chance of being prosecuted are nil....unless the prosecutor is up for election and wants attention, then you are screwed.

Morally it's wrong, cause that's disrespectful to the kids parents. Live how you want, fine, but you have no right to mess with an un-emancipated minor.

No state has a law. No state has ever had a law.

Actually, many if not most states have passed some form of laws regarding this issue. The problem is that almost all of them have been overturned by the courts, because they always go to far (for example, banning ALL violent games, rather then just to minors).

I don't know what current laws are in effect and in what states, but you can bet the ACLU is fighting them.

Google it and you'll see.

No state has ever had a law. Judges kill the proposals before their effective date. Judges don't split the baby. There's a winner and loser. The minors' record is something like 18 and 0, and unlike the New England Patriots, they're not going to lose.

Jack Thompson is being tried for disbarment; the decision was going to be announced when GTA IV was released - at which point Mr. Thompson flooded the judge with e-mails, and she had to delay her verdict until August because she has to review everything to give him a fair trial. His disbarment - yes or no - was going to be announced at the exact moment GTA IV scored perfect 10's. Rockstar had a hand in it, and personally I made a note not to get them mad. The ACLU doesn't have anything to do with it. The video game industry defends the minors, and then recoups millions upon millions in legal fees from the states stupid enough to try to make these laws. It's on this point that your analysis is completely lacking - not only are the minors winning, we're all paying for this stupidity.

I don't hate Mr. Thompson; he's not dumb; he's a religious fundamentalist, not an attorney, who rejects the American legal system, which is why a few of us knew he was doomed to lose in court, whether he's a good man or not. I felt bad that he was in jeopardy of losing his law license at the very moment of Rockstar's complete triumph, but the truth is he rejects the American legal system and shouldn't have a law license.

Brendan Sinclair of GameSpot understands the issue. It'd be nice if all gamers understood.

I just want to give interested people a short review and then explain why I think Speed Racer is important.

Speed Racer mixes Burnout takedowns with F-Zero racing and graphics. The graphics are either slightly better or worse than F-Zero GX, so it's not bad looking for a Wii game.

It's not based on the old Japanese cartoon but on the Wachowski brothers' new Speed Racer movie. The game comes with a ticket.

There's no story just pure racing. It controls like Excite Truck and can use the Mario Kart wheel.

This is by no means a bad movie tie-in game.

Here's why it's important:

The GameSpot story that a country, Abu Dhabi, invested $500 million in Warner Brothers video games - Speed Racer is the first result.

Before they got the $500 million, Warner Brothers had been penalizing developers if their gamerankings average dipped below 70 (Speed Racer is just below 70 so far).

With the $500 million they hired a New Zealand developer, Sidhe Interactive, for Speed Racer. They also own Monolith.

According to the Hollywood Reporter Speed Racer is the first gamer-only movie, and parents aren't enjoying it with their children, but Time magazine called it the "future of movies."

I think things may be better for gamers than we realize.

Here's the GameSpot story:

http://www.gamespot.com/wii/driving/speedracer/news.html?sid=6181255&om_act=convert&om_clk=gsupdates&tag=updates;title;5

:) Now GameSpot doesn't have to review it.

Most mainstream games throughout the history of gaming... but then again, what the mainstream isn't a representation of quality.

When I play a game like The Neverhood and hear that no one has hardly even heard of it I feel kind of weird not being able to understand how such a hilarious and quirky game isn't more popular.foxhound_fox

I just read about your game. Too bad it's unavailable. I mean that.

Why don't you guys talk about little known games exactly like foxhound did in revealing his favorite game has teddy bears and claymation and a big wall? This is anonymous and I'll bet the anger toward Zelda and Halo is gone for him, and you're helping us learn.
