It's all about the numbers. If the numbers being leaked are accurate Ryzen is going to be pretty amazing. I am looking forward to the official reviews myself!

@urbangamez: I use an opensource software called Blender. It does a lot of other stuff but it does a good job of video editing to so I have been pleased.
Well it's going to support DDR 4 and Biostar is listing the X370GT7 as supporting DDR4-2667 so at launch not a huge speed upgrade but over time the board partners will probably support really high speeds just like they do for intel if the high end market is there.
Playing a game that has a ton of story line may actually deter your friend instead of convincing them. Play a co-op game with little story and lots of action like Diablo 3. The controls are simple to pickup and understand, there isn't a crap load of dialog to get bogged down on, and there is a ton of action. I did a similar thing with my wife and I used Dungeons and Dragons Daggerdale because it was basically the only simple co-op RPG on the xbox 360 at the time. Now we can play almost anything together and Diablo 3 and Borderlands are two of our favorites!
@Kopogero: The implant system was and still is a great idea. Nothing felt better than tweaking my character like crazy to squeeze into that 200 quality implant set that made my agent cast complete heal so fast I was considered a doctor on raids and groups!
Finding new and interesting stories and that break the mold aren't easy but they are out there. In the end if you play games you are a gamer. Doesn't matter what games!
For me most MMO games got boring. My first was Anarchy Online but I have played lots of them including SWG. I spent the most time on EVE but it really just didn't have the content to fit my playstyle after a while. Shooters are still fun but I like how Planetside 2 is more persistent instead of match based and how you have more freedom to play the way you want.
Your MMO problem is the WOW effect. After WOW everyone is just trying to build WOW clones. Same classes and same mechanics pasted over some other world. I think for me no MMO was ever as fun as the first one. Learning all the new mechanics and stuff. AO was actually very complex with two layers of gear with weapons and armor as one and implants as another. Everything after that was so much simpler that it just ended up boring.
Now I love strategy games like those from Paradox or strategy survival games like Factorio and Rimworld. Doesn't mean we are not gamers though.
For me it's a modern version of an old NES game called Uncharted Waters. A version where the world is procedurally generated that retains the focus on trade, exploration, and ship combat instead of the sequels that made idiotic sword duels into the I win button of every battle.
That game is still fun for me!
Is it all in one or two cores or is it total average CPU use? You could have parked cores enabled or something that is forcing the processor to be efficient instead of powerful. Also make sure all your drivers including your mainboard and processor drivers are up to date. Then use task manager to see what is consuming all the CPU usage. Just sort it by CPU usage and see if something is standing out. That processor should be more than powerful enough to not be bottlenecking on a GTX 960.
The Borderlands series is great for couch co-op. Then you have a few older titles like Dungeons and Dragons: Daggerdale and Lord of the Rings: War of the North. Co-Optimus lets you sort games by console and even couch co-op if that helps! My wife and I have enjoyed all three above titles as well as Diablo 3.
I feel like Dragon Age Origins is the best RPG I have ever played. I really like a game with a good story and lots of customization options for your characters skills and equipment. DAO did that and has an interface for programing your AI associates that is actually really great once you figure it out!
However, the sequel was awful. They did a 180 and dumbed down the customization options and made it into a button masher. The story seemed good but not good enough.
