Scavenator Farce

The scavenator would have been more fun if it hadn't taken 2 mins for each bloody page to load up last night.
Not to mention that I didn't think the icon you're hunting for would be on anything other than the front page of the associated game. Hence why the Def Jam Icon one made me use a hint needlessly. Not that it it would have made a difference considering it took me the same amount of time to load 1 single page as it did for others to complete. Idiot competition.

TMNT - Finished

I knew the game wasn't going to be great. But I really wanted a solid platform game (Prince Of Persia-esque) which focused more on the single player than the multiplayer (rare for the xbox360). Unfortunatly I breezed through the entire game in 4 hours and 15 minutes game time. This means that it's technically easier than Open Season to FC the GS on.

It was kind of fun for the brief amount of time it lasted though. Although near the end it was very monotamous.
I totally wasted my money buying this, but I do want to own every XBox360 game for something to do

Starfox Assault - Finished

Starfox is a franchise that's been a big part of my life ever since the SNES version was released.  I went to extraordinary lengths back in 1992 to get myself an import copy (back in the days before the internet this wasn't such an easy task). This led on to Starfox 64 a couple years later, discovering the furry fandom through lylat.net and so forth. Starfox is a big deal to me.

This game however was lacking. It was far too short by a mile and once again (the major gripe with the series) it has a story which has moments of potentially going somewhere deeper but then which ultimately leads to nothing. Fox's relationship with Wolf, you want a big FinalFantasy-esque dialogue scene to take place but it never does. Falco & Fox's love/hate relationship, again it's hinted at continously game after game but it never resolves to anything. Krystal replacing Peppy in the series isn't so great.

Maybe this generation of gamers need a female to keep interest. But Peppy will always be the real team member to the old school starfox crowd. What ever happened to Katt Monroe anyway?.

I did like that Starwolf went good in this game though. When you've been playing the Starfox games for over a decade it's a real pivot point for the fan when something like that happens.

In the likelyhood a new Starfox game does come out on the Wii, they should really address the story issue. It'd make the game on par with the N64 version and all the fond memories it contained. I do own the DS game, but it's not something for which I particulary keen to continue. The multiplayer is kind of fun though.

Fable - Finished

Tearing myself away from my points whoring I finally got around to putting Fable in there.
I went in thinking it was going to be full of let downs from what I've read of the criticism (mostly directed at Lionhead).
However, I actually quite enjoyed it.

Yes it is too short, maybe it is somewhat linear and the good/bad alignment could have been fleshed out a little more.
But that aside, it was engaging and oozed charm and quirky humour. The welsh and 'yokel accents didn't go unnoticed!.
I wonder if they were in the US versions? god knows if they managed to comprehend any of it.

It only took me about 12 hours to finish, but it was jolly good fun. Makes me more excited about Fable 2 on the 360
especially after watching Peter's conference at GDC07 too.

Commodore, what are you playing at?

So the selling point of the new Commodore PC's is that they have a 'tricked out' case.

Pardon my ignorance, but since when has putting a screen print on a basic £14.99 shell been 'tricking' a system out?.
The system specs sound exactly like that of Alienware/Dell and just about every other high-end rig you see for sale
on Custom PC magazine. So what exactly are they trying to achieve?

The point they seem to have missed is that anyone who cares about PC gaming enough to want a modded case, dual DX10 GFX cards and so forth. Can (usually with very little assistance) make it themselves for alot less money. It seemsto me that this is just an attempt to try and make PC elitism more accessible to the public. Alan, it's already been done. It's called a MAC.

Although that springs to mind a hilarious image of 'Amstrad' stores opening next to Apple & Sony.

Lost Planet - Finished

Boring story, pretty shallow repetitive gameplay.
The mech's were quite fun except that the majority of weapons are useless to you except for the chain gun and the grenade launcher.

Started playing it on multiplayer (for achievements). It's quite fun although considering everyone selects sniper rifle only games and there's quite a deal of lag it gets to be rather tedious rather quickly.

PS3 Home

It's true in some regards that it is Second-Life from a offline based branded company who are targetting non tech-savvy console users who don't regulary use PC's.

Although I ask the question how you are supposed to create content (as they hype as the selling point) without access to a PC?. My assumption is that this is going to end up as just another money spinner for Sony in which few can actually customize but in which alot can spend real money to buy.

It would be like creating an alternative to a high capacity HD ready DVD format which would do nothing but alienate possible consumers and slow down growth of the industry as a whole. What idiots would do a thing like that?

Enchanted Arms - Finished

So after 42 hours playing time (according to the ingame clock), I finally completed Enchanted Arms

Even though the level progression is a bit whack in places and the golem(monster) collecting mechanic is essentially a completely unneccesary addition. That aside it was still kind of fun. Makoto being in the game was a definite plus. Nice to see a game with a gay friendly image, the ending sequence especially was hilarious

I can see why it scored a fair. It's not ground breaking in any sense of the word. However it was a damn sight better than some of the games i've trudged through (cough just cause cough).

So yeah it's worth picking up especially as it's going a bit cheaper now it's been out a year or so. Looking forward to Blue Dragon!. Hopefully a real 'next-gen' RPG.

Nintendo is failing me again.

When the Wii was announced I was of the opinion that I totally wasn't going to waste my money on it after the fiasco that was the Gamecube & the N64.

Two consoles of which I maybe bought 2 games each and had absoloutly no interest towards any of the other stuff released for it.

But no, due to peer pressure I got a Wii pretty much on it's release date over here in the EU. 3 Months later, only played maybe 8 hours of Zelda and got bored of Sports after a few go's (realising there's really little skill involved).

It's therefore my opinion that you really can't get any enjoyment out of the Wii unless you are a casual gamer. One who either can't afford or manage the controls of it's superiors games (which seem to get ported down) or those who play games for 10 minute 'rushes' and just want something to do when a friend comes over.

Not to mention, Nintendo's release schedule for full games over here is totally whack. Both on the Wii & The DS. One of the games I wanted was Trauma Centre and that still hasn't even been awarded a release schedule yet, I don't hold much hope for Cooking Mama on either system too.

Thankyou Nintendo for totally wasting my time again. I hope you enjoy making games for 9 year olds and the elderly who'll die of 'Heeley' related accidents or old age before you can persuade them to buy your latest pile of crap.
