Nope, Rock Band is going to be the retarded cousin of Guitar Hero: World TourLord_Omikron666
Twice removed even...or you could say it will be the Red Headed Step Child of the two :p
No, im not going to get Rock Band. I mean just compare the two:
Rock Band - watered down version with a few extra songs. Comparable to the PS2 version which sucked compared to the 360/ps3. GHIII guitar will not work so those that have GH3 already will have to lug around extra hardware beyond the drums and mic. Many other things that make RB not appealing in light of GHIV.
Guitar Hero IV - full version game with perhaps better drum set (wont know till I play it) fully intact with DLC and online play.
Its not too hard a decision in my opinion. I am also biased as I wasnt much of a fan of the songs that were included in RB and much prefered the songs in GH3 and some in 2.
Getting back on topic...
I would definitely have to agree that there is a large space issue for the Wii. That could potentially be adressed later down the road *shrugs* who knows. I am not an avid collector of VC games due to the fact that most of the games they are putting out are either garbage or I didnt have much fun with. Space is not my issue but rather the selection. Unfortunately, I know that is not entirely up to Nintendo. Nintendo has to wait for the third party companies that created the games in the first place to recode them to be placed on the VC. That means they have to seak those that have full rights to games. Companies like Rare Lmt. are under different management or circumstances that dont exactly allow for some or all the games they created to be allowed onto the VC.
I know there is more to it that I am not describing. Space for me is not an issue but it IS a problem. Selection is my problem. The Wii itself I love. Just got Wii fit and have already used it to loose a little weight.
In the interim however, I will most definitely enjoy FFIV.
Honestly, I thought I had answered your question in the form that terrorism, ethnic clensing, and genocide being topics that really should not be in the form of video game entertainment as it is not a medium conducive to being a factful docutmentary to which most history lessons reside. I hope that provides some clarification so as to answer your question.
I can appreciate the aspect of people wanting to learn about a topic. Perhaps this is mearly a reaction I would have however if I found a game to be fun and whatnot (using the game at the heart of this discussion as the example) and found that there was some historical fact behind it and referenced it...I would be in shock and dismay that a game had been created on such a grim and controversial topic.
Regarding the weblink you provided, an interesting offering to be sure. Throughout the history of gaming, subtle lessons were woven into stories and plots that did give some room for teaching values, morals, and ethics. The use of one's imagination would sometimes be put to the test depending on the game. I am not disputing that games have the ability to teach.
I didnt specify any other mediums/venues that should not tread onto this subject other than video games. There is a certain amount of interaction that occurs in other methods of teaching that allows for an individual to put things into context. A teacher teaching the subject. The author providing information from his/her point of view. A narrator in a documentary/movie. With a video game...that could occur but not to the extent that would be needed that would provide the same understanding as other, more appropriate mediums. I had only used movies and documentaries as examples.
One final note of this response...I would greatly appreciate it if you didnt get snide with me. I honestly thought I had answered your question. Obviously by your response, I hadnt. I hope the clarification I gave is to your satisifcation. I have tried to be polite and respectful and will continue to do so.
Terrorism, ethnic clensing, genocide...just three examples of topics that i dont beleive should be placed into a form of entertainment regardless of the educational intent. The Holocaust very much falls into the ethnic clensing and genocide categories.
[QUOTE="DSfanatic5"][QUOTE="SawFan4Life"]yeah that is not the same thing at all...
you fail at analogies.
and CAPSLOCK DOES NOT MAKE YOU RIGHT.
thanks for playing.

I imagine you were talking to me. What is your point? Are you saying that dropping the DS on the concrete is Nintendo's fault? You fail at defending your statement, resulting in a pointless post. Thanks for wasting your time.
Um that was his statement, I think it would require a response for him to defend it. None the less, the kid who made this topic was simply asking if there was anyway to fix his DS without sending it in. And mentioned something about a warranty, and sorry to burst your ignorant bubble but what do you think a warranty is for? But hey... way to go for trying to be cool taking your angers out on forums!
I hate to burst your bubble but having worked in the retail business for a couple years definitely taught me that there is a very large difference between what the manufacturers warrenty will and will not cover. Accidents such as dropping a device is not covered in ANY standard out-of-the-box warrenty. One can get an extended warrenty through the place it was bought at (like Best Buy) that would cover such things.
Manufacturers will not cover your accidents and mistakes. Drop a device into the toilet? oops, oh well. Drop it on concrete? opps, oh well. Now, if the shoulder buttons stopped working for some reason or one of the two screens went blank and wouldnt turn on...or even if the battery stopped charging without any reason...THOSE are things covered in the manufacturers warrenty.
What will likely happen if he shipped his DS back to Nintendo with the reason being that he dropped it on concrete, it would get shipped right back to him stating that there was nothing they could/would do due to his mistake. It was his mistake, not Nintendo's fault. Nintendo's manufacturers warrenty coveres things that Nintendo is at fault for during the production of that product.
Hope that clarifies things.
Getting back to the topic at hand...
Without knowing what exactly the DS is or is not doing or where it might be cracked...theres no real way to diagnose the problem to offer up a solution. Best guess is that the power switch circuit leads might have gotten severed somewhere and would need to be reseated (more likely right at the switch itself). Could you provide a picture of your DS?
There is definitely no disputing that atrocities have occured and that the human species is capable of such things. There is also no disputing that human beings are capable of great kindness. Touchy subjects will always be there and there is always some way to discuss those topics. In my opinion, the video games just isnt the right venue to discuss the Holocaust.
"On top of that, you want to talk about touchy subjects? Talk to people who are related to those killed by the Atomic Bomb. That is something America tends to forget. It took place not to far from the Holocaust, and it was on many innocent people too."
That is certainly a dark chapter and a black mark on our history and its true that people would rather forget about it but there are always reminders that pop up periodically about them. The problem at the time was that those deploying it didnt understand the full consequences of the blast and really the fallout until a couple weeks after. People will say that it saved both sides from having to commit to a very bloody ground incursion however the devistation caused to the Nagasaki and Hiroshima areas was immense. Japanese anime always seems to show the mushroom cloud as a constant reminder of what happened 68 years ago. I can tell you that I have no intention to forget that chapter of my history. If one does not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it.
That last sentance does provide an argument towards having this Holocaust game created and produced however there far more appropriate venues to discuss that atrocity other than the video game industry. Such a game (regardless of its creator's intent) will be taken one of two ways;
1. Holocaust survivors or families of survivors will aplaud the effort and speak up towards it or...
2. They will take great offense to a video game being created from one of the most hellacious periods in our world history.
No denying that video games have been created around sensitive topics such as the Holocaust and definitely some that should never have been conceived. It is going to happen again about some other issue at some point. All we can do is either provide our support or speak out against it.
Oh, and if someone attempted to make a video game out of what happened on September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center...I would raise hell. Even if that game was to center around disaster recovery efforts where you play the police chief or fire department personnel, it wouldnt matter. Again, there are appropriate venues to discuss matters. Video games is not (in my opinion) the right venue.
*edit* I ask this question (and please do not take it out of context); Is the Holocaust supposed to be entertaining? Video games are a form of entertainment regardless of how they are designed (educational or otherwise).
