But I don't think the next movie will be a happy ending necessarily. If you really pay attention to what happened and what was said, it seems pretty obvious to me who will have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Since I'm unaware of how this all played out in the comics, I was totally not ready for that ending.

The comparison to The Empire Strikes Back is totally fair.
