@l_skipper Yeah, everyone seems to care about the performance only. Actually the good news from this article is that the game developers actually like this platform. Which could lead to great ideas.
Outperformed or not, is doesn't matter. What really matters is that the developer seems to like it very much. They didn't like a PS3 platform the day it was launched back then.
@Khalidosanyeah. 6-7 years ago, we didn't have Steam, App store, Google Play, PS store etc. Indie wasn't so popular not because they're bad, but because there were simply no facility for them. Do you know how much it cost to distribute games as a CD or DVD?
I actually bought this out of curiosity. Here're my experience after 1 hour. Sorry for my grammar. I'm not native.
You spawned near a random generated inhabited island. The only thing you can do is just walking around. The sound and ambiance will depend on what's around you and what landscape you're on. Each type of trees, bugs, hill etc have their own sound, so when you walk around, you generated some kind of a random music. Nice kind of random music, kinda like a wind chime with lots more variety of sounds.
The visual was surprisingly, just like what the reviewer said, not bad at all. I meant "visual" of course not "graphic". If Crysis is a HD photo then this feels very much like a water painting.
There is Day/Night cycle in this game. At night the ambiance music will change. Also, If you wandering around you may found a whirlwind of lights. If you step into that whirlwind, the surrounding environment will fast forward in to a new season.
In new season the ambiance and sound will change again according to things around you. There are 4 seasons. When you reached winter night, the game ends.
So... win or fail. I'd say win. The "game" is kinda short for 10 USD, but there will be a discount on Steam for sure.
To use the word "play" is not right. Call it a "game" is also wrong. For someone new to this kind of media, try Dear Esther. It's a bit easier to understand.
