@sladakrobot: They even AI upscaled the newspaper in the GTAIII intro, Sladak. Such a prominently featured prop, and they couldn't be bothered to spend the fifteen (15) or so minutes it would take to digitally mock up its replacement. Now we're stuck with the conspicuously artifacted textual regurgitation of some lame ass neural network. FOREVER! 😩
Interesting read, that article. However, that engineer and those marketing folk discussing the device's portability and how it was boosted by the inclusion of the handle seem to ignore a glaring fault with the machine's design, which completely defeats the compact image: the extraneous power supply.
@faramir77: We weren't supposed to dislike Raiden by the end, Faramir. Or even Rose for that matter, but that's not how it turned out.
Now Sons of Liberty's major claim to redeemability, is its simulation. It managed to expand upon its predecessor with elements from immersive sims and enhanced mob intelligence, capitalizing on its simple environments with procedurally determined set pieces, like choreographed search sorties, while still maintaining the streamlined, fast paced, digital approach. Something that Snake Eater abandoned to promote convoluted, slow paced, analogue stealth.
That said, it is the original Metal Gear Solid (1998), properly dithered and wobbly, that's the one more likely to stand the test of time, presentation wise. Both Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater are detailed enough to sabotage imagination, looking just wildly unrealized.
@joeyjojo1972: No, but it is true that I'm not natively an anglophone, Joey. However, I do not often favor colloquial speech in the context of the written word of any language. 😔
@Barighm: Rockstar's just banking on nostalgia with this one, Barighm. However, should they remake those older titles, then it would be an iteration on their current framework with the established setting. I would think, at least.
Now, the holistic challenge of Resident Evil (1996) with its open ended, player driven approach, tight layout design, and highly idiosyncratic surrogacy, have made that game perennially redeemable. An artifact worthy of any land or time, my friend.
@thecupidstunts: It is widely regarded a pejorative, Cupid. From the link: "Its modern use has curious affinities with earlier uses, such as "parasitical worm or maggot" (1520s), of unknown origin; and Australian-New Zealand slang "worthless, troublesome person" (World War I-era)." That said, I do not like your tone. 😠
I have heard that pronouns are a universal feature of all languages. I have also heard that is not true. However, would this option make a substantial difference to the game? Probably not.
