Xbox one and ps4 base are both machines good enough for 1080p tvs (even recent games like nioh have 720p 60fps and 1080p 30fps modes for the weaker old ps4 xD).

Xbox one s adds hdr which is nice and plays 4k hdr movies disks so it can be seen as a uhd disk player that runs gears 4 at 60fps haha xD

Ps4 pro is also getting several games patched to have 60fps or higher resolution options and even games without the patch will run at higher fps or simply stabilize games with locked fps.

In my opinion ps4 pro is becoming a very good 1080p 60fps machine :) with the option for more resolution for those who want it more than fps.

Id say for 4 or 5 years + we wont be seeing another console generation

Xbox one s is a 4k uhd hdr movie disk player that is cheap and runs games like gears of war ultimate and gears of war 4 ...forza horizon 3 halo 5...and more...at 1080p 60fps.

Ps4 pro recently became the best 1080p machine with 60fps mode added on several games and even games without pro patch will run at better fps with boost mode!

So ps4 pro is a 1080p 60fps machine finally! and also can run native 1440p and 1880p that is then upscaled to 4k hdr using dynamik checkboard and delivering 4k ish results (not true 4k but close enough on a goof 4k hdr tv for 399€ a great machine.

I still choose 1080p 60fps all the time on my ps4 pro xD

Nintendo Switch for its size is pretty powerful allowing for skyrim portable and many great games to be played on the go with unique controllers. Good console no doubt. Doubles as handheld and home console ...on the go or on the tv :)

See no need to be a fanboy.

Current generation of consoles is pretty nice

Archangel first of all no achievements or rewards at all for playing on hardest difficulty is just wrong. If I play a game on max difficulty settings I expect a unique tshirt for my avatar so other players know Im a badass xD or simply an achievement so my friends dont accuse me of playing on easy haha

Second if you can change at any second from hardcore to super easy it feels like cheating. Anything you cant do you just easy it out and that ruins the game experience for me.

But just adding some reward at the end of a game at max difficulty 100% of time (achievement wont be received if you change difficulty even once ) thaymt would be enough for me.

Now back on topic.

Any modern games without this 'ability' to change difficulty at any time? I need games that have different difficulties but without the ability to change your mind later xD thanks

I started as a nintendo 64 and game boy colour player. I then become a pc rpg player (and mmorpg). Later all my friends were buying the xbox 360 and my pc was being left behind so I decided myself into buying the xbox 360 at 200€. Bought oblivion game used for 5€ (always wanted to play but my pc was pretty old) and bought gears of war.

At first I was really bad at shooters to the point of telling myself shooters are trash.

Instead I focused on playing rpg games. Bought several games over the years: resonance of fate. blue dragon. assassin creed 1. assassin creed 2. (later brotherhood and much later revelations too). gears of war 2. halo reach.

At gears of war 2 and halo reach I started to like them shooters on story mode and casually co op and myltiplayer.

Then I got gears of war 3 and all I could see was a master piece. Gears of war 3 is one of the best games ever and made me start liking shooters for real.

Now I own both ps4 pro and xbox one s 2tb and for me now gears of war ultimate and 4 and halo 5 are games that I really like.

I love when they add expansion packs with significant content months after the game is released. I just love it. And I dont mind paying for it at all.

Imagine a world with no dlc... you love the game but there is nothing more once you finish it... no more maps on multiplayer ....no more extra story and quests.

Dlc isnt bad. Its optional extra content to the game. You dont like it dont buy it. simple. you like it buy it. simple

I hate easy games.

I hate even more games with difficulty settings that you can change at any second (is like cheating !)....

I love games that allow me to go to hardest difficulty permanently (once started the new game on hard there is no turn back)

I own ps4 pro and xbox one s.

And I have to disagree with you there.

Xbox one has amazing exclusives (windows 10 and xbox one only).

Gears of war 4 at 60fps feels so smooth (same for ultimate/1remake) forza horizon 3 is awesome and gonna buy halo wars 2 next week.

Ps4 also has exclusives I like.

ps4 pro + xbox one s 2tb = many years of gaming for me :)

Nowadays many games have the option to change difficulty at any given time which I belive destroy the mesning of playing hard mode (since you will have always the option to reduce difficulty at any second) and I hate it...

I love skyrim (just an example) and played hundreads of hours always on max/legendary difficulty but having the option to change difficulty is really bad... also no achievements for playing the entire game on hardest difficulty is wrong... you should reward somehow the hardcore gamer for being up to the challenge!

Now my question: what games do you know that allow you to choose difficulty mode but not change it later? also what games you know that reward playing on hard?

thanks

yes most of time it keeps solid 1080p 60fps. If action goes super intense it goes below 1080p but 60fps are rock solid here

I use my xbox one s for gears of war 4 forza horizon 3 halo 5 but also as a 4k disk player.

I also use my ps4 pro for exclusives and some multi playform games. I like ps4 controllers a bit more but I also like my x1 elite controller.

In terms of cost I could say x1s is cheaper than 4k disk players and also plays games while the ps4 pro is my choice for multi platform games since it has more power. Love both the same.
