In fps games it seems like the story is often completely disregarded, (COD) but i would actually like to see FPS games with good stories, maybe at the expense of gameplay

[QUOTE="UpInFlames"]

[QUOTE="Black_Knight_00"]

I live in a 20k people town and about half the people I know don't have landline contracts. It's not that they can't have them of course, it's just that they can't be bothered to pay the extra 40-50 bucks a month when they can phone and browse the internet on their 3G phones/tablets. The more advanced ones use usb 3G adaptors on their laptops.

This is what I was saying: microsoft looks at the big cities and thinks "Everyone has broadband here, look. Let's make always-online DRM" but they haven't done their homework as far as smaller towns are concerned. This is clear when considering what that stupid-head creative director said.

Black_Knight_00

That's pretty expensive. I'm paying 45 dollars (34 euros) for a package that includes cable TV, a fixed phone line and flat rate broadband (10MB/s).

Most people have have mobile internet as well, but we all still have broadband (which usually comes in some sort of package). I live in Osijek which has 100,000 people.

I don't think that Microsoft is oblivious to this, but they're probably looking at Steam and Origin and they're thinking "well, let's do something like that, these guys are making it work, why can't we?". They're probably getting a ton of info from general Windows usage as well.

Except Steam and Origin are purely DD: the only way you can obtain games for those "platforms" is to download them via a broadband connection, meaning that a Steam user already needs to havea connection in order to obtain software from it. A home console is a different story, since games are sold both DD and retail, meaning that they are adding a hurdle to the "buy game, play game in console" process. A lot of people will have to buy broadband intenet access (which they wouldn't have bought otherwise) for the sole purpose of playing xbox. I remains to be seen how many will do that instead of just buying the competition, which costs about the same and doesn't force them to spend an extra 35-40 (+5 a month of xbox live) to play.

I have heard this about the PS4 and it could be true for 720 that games could only be purchased digitally and downloaded onto the console( Like the newer PSPs that sony doesn't make discs for and its all digital). This would make it impossible to sell used games and need the internet connection.

I assume the reason that they are doing this is that if u spend $300 on a new console that must be connected to xbox live u will keep buying live, this will force everyone to buy live even if they raised the price

I dont know about people not having internet in their homes, a lot of people have computers connected to the internet, and the vast majority of people that have the 360 have an internet connection for it.

Skyrim is a bit over rated, the graphics are great but the gameplay is somewhat repetitive. Oblivion is a superior game imo
