Don't you mean CPU-Z? Which tab do you have open that's showing those speeds? Is it the "memory" or the "spd" tab? By the way, if it's the memory tab, and your RAM is running at 1600mhz, it will show as 800mhz here. That's because DDR means "double data rate," meaning that the actual clock speed wills show as half the rated speed. If your RAM is running at DDR3-1333mhz speed for some reason, it will show as 667mhz(ish) in this tab.

I got this board:

Asus M4N98TD EVO Nforce 980a sli. I dont know why sometimes I cant paste links directly.

Yes, sorry I did mean cpu-z. I used the mem section, as the spd section shows no data on my screen. I havent turned it up to 1600 yet because last time I did my comp said it didnt like the oc and wouldnt let me into windows. I left it at 1333 till I figure out how to utilize the speed it is rated at.

Which motherboard did you end up going with? I know some require manually setting the clock speed, timings, AND RAM voltage to get certain sets of RAM up and running properly. Although truthfully.. with the Phenom II's there's not much difference between running RAM at 1333 and 1600.

I have phenom II X2 555 unlocked to x4 denab, G Skill ram 2x 2gb 1600. When I look at gpu-z it says dram is between 666 and 687 mhz. I dont know why it shows such a low number. Does anyone know if this being run in dual channel mode, just reports it as half the true number, or is my settings wrong somewhere?

AMD for desktop, they are cheaper and I am cheap ass. But, so far, AMD on notebook runs too hot. It was a terrible mistake to recommand my brother to get AMD for his notebook and it overheat so easily.

I didnt know that. Did he try Intel and solve the problem, or is cooling an issue in general with notebooks? My notebook always seemed hot too, but thought it just the way they were.

I am rich and money doesnt matter ultimate rig....ntel. Me.. average person with a budhet AMD all day. Backward compatable hidden cores better price very good (not great) performance.

But Intel is faster more efficient, and costs alot more for the little (in my opinion) gain.

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.
  2. At the command prompt, type the following, where drive letter is the drive that you want to convert: convert drive letter: /fs:ntfsFor example, type the following command to convert drive E to NTFS: convert e: /fs:ntfsNote If the operating system is on the drive that you are converting, you will be prompted to schedule the task when you restart the computer because the conversion cannot be completed while the operating system is running. When you are prompted, click YES.
  3. When you receive the following message at the command prompt, type the volume label of the drive that you are converting, and then press ENTER: The type of the file system is FAT.
Enter the current volume label for drive drive letter
  4. When the conversion to NTFS is complete, you receive the following message at the command prompt: Conversion complete
  5. Quit the command prompt.
