Long time no see!

Haven't been to my profile page here on GameSpot for awhile but thought I'd stop back by and say hey.  I spend most of my online time on GiantBomb dot com now where my username is Ross.  I posted a review of Mirror's Edge and Too Human if anyone wants to go read them.  I recommend GiantBomb not as an alternative to GameSpot but as a supplementary site.  It's like Wikipedia but exclusively for video games and with almost zero d-bags that screw up articles.  They have articles anywhere from Master Chief to the concept of the unreliable narrator.  Character, location, object, franchise, and game pages are abound.  I come to GameSpot for news and I stick with GiantBomb for information about video games in general.  Later.

Wow I'm Lazy...

I just noticed I haven't written a blog post in over five months! Well anyway, GTAIV just came out and I'm picking it up tomorrow. I went over to my friend's house and watched him play it for about three hours. While that sounds weird, I'm one of those people who doesn't have to be playing the game to have fun. Along with GTA, I have been playing a ridiculous amount of Halo 3 lately. I wasn't really into the multiplayer within the first few months, but now I have been playing almost every night. Another game I am looking forward to this year is Halo Wars. I think this game will be under the radar to a bunch of people and will catch people by surprise. Developers of Age of Empires+Halo=a winning formula in my book. Starcraft 2! When will it come out? Probably not this year, "It will come out when it is done."-Blizzard. DAMNIT BOB COLAYCO I want this game now! Apparently Bungie is about to unveil their new project which I am guessing along with a lot of other people that they are bringing back their Marathon series, which I wouldn't mind since I never really played any of the first three. The other two games I know I want at this time are MGS4 and Gears of War 2. I've never actually played any of the MGSs but it looks good. And Gears of War 2 looks good. Yes I know that pretty much all we have right now is a trailer with silhouettes but still, it looks cool. I am also, I think, one of the few people who hated GOW multiplayer. I'm excited that they are gonna focus on the story more this time which is all I really care about in the game. Anyway it is good to be back and along with GameSpot, check Giantbomb.com for video game reviews. See you later.

Goodbye Jeff

Jeff Gerstmann made GameSpot what it was before November 29, 2007. A reliable and professional website. But now that Josh Larson came into the picture, it is now corporate and the genuineness of this site is gone. I am hoping that it can somehow be recovered but that will take a VERY long time. While some people might not have liked Jeff's reviews and his personality on On the Spot and the HotSpot, I thought he was the spark that kept shows and video reviews interesting. Yes there are times when I did and did not agree with him, but you could tell he was always being true. Remember 11/29/2007. I don't know how but I hope that GameSpot will return back to its former glory. My heart goes out to the remaining editors and behind the scenes crew members of GameSpot. And also goodbye Tim. You were always another fun personality and I still watch your Tales of Symphonia video review today. Long live the king of Beardwatch. Peace out.

Final Fantasy III, Halo 3, and the Orange Box (Not 3)

There have been some crazy good video games this last month.  As the entire world knows, Halo 3 came out.  It is a really good game, but it lost my interest a lot faster than I thought it would.  The campaign was ok, still nto as good as Halo 1.  Halo 3 multiplayer is Halo 2 multiplayer with better graphics.  I'm not bashing Halo 3 by any means.  It just feels like been there done that.  I just got into Final Fantasy III on my DS.  It's a really fun game.  I've spent about seven hours and not even close to half-way done.  Definitely recommend it.  Last, but certainly not least, the frickin' Orange Box.  I am having so much fun.  Best deal ever.  I just finished Portal which was pretty fun and very different.  I've always been interested in the Half-Life series but have never been a PC FPS guy so I'm happy they finally came to consoles, but I still haven't touched them because of Portal.  Definitely will though.  Played a little TF2.  Unfortuneately the first game I got in was so laggy that if you held down the left thumbstich then move left, you would move backwards fro about three seconds longer than you should have then finally turned left.  I'll try again this weekend.  That's about it for now.  See ya.

P.S.  Just saw Bill Cosby in Branson.  Awesome!

Heavenly Game

I just picked up Heavenly Sword yesterday and it is friggin' awesome!  I'm up to chapter 5 right now.  Rarely do I ever replay game's stories, but I think I might have to play this one again.  Big thumbs up if you have a PS3.  Rainbow Six: Vegas is still in my 360.  Still working towards that Elite rank.  I'm an invisible bar away from Major so only three more ranks after Major that will take forever.  But its fun, so I'm ok with it.  School's a b****.  Bring on Thanksgiving break.  Almost five weeks in and I'm already tired of this crap.  Also picked up MP3 Corruption for Wii and I'm having fun with that.  Gotta go.  See you later.

Back on Final Fantasy

I have just started to play my copy of Final Fantasy VII off of Ebay and it is really fun.  I'm only about thirty minutes into the game but I'm having a good time with it right now.  I've also been playing some Rainbow Six: Vegas and finally made it up to Captain which I'm happy about since I get the Spas 12, MG36, and Deagle all of which I like.  For my vacation, I got Riviera for PSP and it is ok.  I'm not a big fan of games where your weapons have health before they break.  But its ok.  Oh yeah I've been playin' a ton of All-Pro Football 2K8 on Xbox 360.  I would give it about an 8 out of 10 probably.  The players do look a little better than 2K5, single-player offline is amazingly shallow, and in a game that has 11 legends on the team with the rest filled up by made up dudes, it is kind of dumb that the created player cap is only 20.  But the gameplay is pretty fun.  I still need to finish the last level on Super Paper Mario.  There's only one problem...I'm lazy and I don't want to hook up my Wii.  There are so many good games coming out in these next few months that I'm going to go into the corner in my room, huddle up against the wall , and cry that I won't have the time and money for all of them.  See you later.

Quick Blog

I haven't written a blog for awhile and can't write a big one today.  But I got a PS3 for my birthday!  Unfortuneately, I only have one friend who has one, and he doesn't like Resistance multiplayer (which is awesome).  Another game I picked up for it was Motorstorm which is pretty fun.  I'm taking a break from the FFs and am starting to play my PSP again.  I just bought Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters which is very fun.  As usual, the weapons are awesome.  I'm still playing Rainbow Six Vegas for 360 clawing my way up the ranks towards an Elite.  Right now, I'm a Master Sergeant, so I still have a very long way to go.  That's it for now!  I'm going on vacation tomorrow, so see ya later.

Done!

I just finished Final Fantasy X. It was starting to get a little stale, but now that it's over, I wish there was more.

Better Late Than Never

I have a bad habit. I always get interested in things late into their life cycles or just because. I've been that way with the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Scrubs at the end of the fifth season, and now Final Fantasy. HOLY CRAP FINAL FANTASY! These past few weeks I have had a mission. I am going to play all of the core Final Fantasy games except XI. I'm waiting for the remakes of I and II, got III for DS, IV (thanks Shmappblarg!), V, and VI for GBA. Ordered VII off of Ebay, planning on getting VIII and IX for about $20.00 together on Ebay, am almost done with X, don't really plan on playing XI, and I got XII. Good news Final Fantasy is awesome! Bad news, they are so fun that they last so long! Right now I am playing FFX and FF IV. FFIV is fun and I'm on the dark crystals part. But X...is so fun but such a pain in the ass! Right now, I am up to Braska's Final Aeon and like every other RPG I play, I got there too early. Lulu doesn't have Doublecast or Ultima, Yuna doesn't have Holy or Ultima, and Tidus/Auron both don't have Quick Hit. The closest I've been to actually beating him is getting him down to about 30,000 HP in his first form. Yeah I'm behind. I'm going to do all of the side-quests to level up and get some extra Aeons and spells. After that battle though, I think the rest of the game is pretty easy. So yeah, right now it is FF, FF, and more FF. This is a pretty long blog post and I'm going to end it here. Sorry about it taking so long, but I was busy with . . . ah, Hell with it, I was lazy/sleeping. Until next time!

Finals...(again)

Finally gonna get a full blog post up here.  I've been crazy busy with being sick and finals.  Luckily my last day is this Wednesday, so after that I can fully relax.  Anyway, I've been playing a ton of Pokemon Diamond.  Right now, the thing that always happens to me in Pokemon games happened to me again.  I breezed through the gyms and am not powerful enough for the Elite Four.  That always happens, so now I have to level grind for awhile.  Not fun.  I also just bought Spiderman 3 for the 360.  Kinda weird.  Spiderman 2 for Xbox was definitely better, but we'll see.  I just got it so I haven't played a ton yet.  And I have also been playing Super Paper Mario for Wii.  I think I'm up to the fourth door.  That's all for now.  I have to go study skeltal, muscular, and integumentary systems!  See ya.
