Nope, even on a technical standpoint, textures were bad, character models looked like rubber action figures, but the art style was even more atrocious.

Well, yes, Star Wars is an incredibly milked IP. Of course there's a demand, with any popular creative endeavor, the fans will buy extra junk inspired by that IP, that's why collectors editions sell. But do you have any evidence to this huge Halo following that never played the game?
Like Star Wars, there's a demand for it, it's a much bigger series than Gran Turismo will ever be, it's left a bigger impact and it's transcended video games more so than any other series I could think of.

The Halo thread on this site is the largest thread in the video game section with 1200+ pages, people here discussing the lore, the EU, there are several people here are avid fans of the Halo EU without being hardcore fans of the game, most of them have most likely played through the stories in the games but aren't hardcore Halo players, especially Halo MP players,
Gran Turismo.
Bigger legacy then Halo.
Well the usage of the term legacy will need clarifying. Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg didn't make public that they love GT and would like to do a 3 film series on GT. GT hasn't crossed over into other forms of media. In 50 years that's an impressive legacy to see that a video game transcended its own confines.
So where are these 3 Halo movies? So what you're saying is GT can't be great since it hasn't been horribly milked? (And by milked, I'm referring to action figures, cereals, sleeping bags and other junk sold to simply take advantage of a game's popularity.) Marketing and milking is your idea of legacy?
Is Star Wars considered milked? Because Halo is to video games what Star Wars is to movies, it's the biggest science fiction franchise in video games and there's a demand for the books, comics, graphic novels, because people actually give 2 shits about Halo as more than a game, in fact there are tons of people who are into Halo without actually being fans of the game, they just enjoy Halo as a universe. Gran Turismo doesn't come anywhere close to that level of recognition.
@batosaims: Keep talking out of your ass. How do you know no one has tried? They make 90+ Metacritic games sell 6 to 9 million on just PlayStation. Yeah they aren't well regarded...clown. Don't respond to me again.
I now genuinely think that you may be mentally retarded....how do I know no one has tried? That's called an abstract argument, you're asking me to prove something that can't be proven. Their games sell 6 million copies over the course of a year despite massive budgets and marketing, where a game like COD or GTA sells that many copies in a few days...on one console...that's why they aren't very desirable and worth paying more than an industry standard salary, they're an overrated developer and their games don't sell as well as main stream titles. I understand that it's probably very comfy up there in the depths of Sony's ass but you should really consider getting some fresh air, and a better argument while you're at it.
Metroid
Flagship
Metroid is a flagship but Kirby and DK aren't? Dafuq? It's been 5 years since we got a Metroid game yet three's been at least 2-3 Kirby and DK games in that same time period.
@batosaim: Why aren't they gone then? I'm sure they are very well regarded across the industry. You must be an idiot if you think they think Sony can't afford or won't compensate some of their most valuable talent fairly. Keep hoping for an exodus of Sony first party talent, but it won't happen. I don't have to wait 5 years to say you are full ish and wishful thinking.
Because no one has tried, They simply aren't worth paying that much because they aren't that good of a developer and their games don't sell as well as the COD/GTA' out there, I stated that IF they were offered substantially more money they'd leave without a second thought.
I never said that Sony couldn't afford to pay them, I said that would it be easy for a company who isn't barely keeping above water like Sony is to swoop in and grab ND's talent if they wanted to, by offering them more money and a more stable future, which is absolutely true, your pathetic strawman isn't helping your argument, and seriously? Exodus? Dafuq are you talking about? Take your lips off of Sony's ass and breath a little.
@Antwan3K Handing @grenadeluncher his ass continually itt.
Very entertaining, would read again.
At least give Grenadelauncher some points for creativity.
@batosaims: Sony is no longer in dire straits financially(they aren't losing money) and PlayStation is a key to the corporation's future strategy so I think it would be really hard to pry away key ND talent away if money was the only concern. They would be gone already if it was that simple. The worst times have past and they survived.
Because they finally turned a profit after a string of losses? No, come back after 3-5 years of Sony continuously turning a profit and then will talk. If someone offered ND employees a job with a substantially larger salary and the chance to work for a company that doesn't have to chop off their limbs to stay afloat like Sony does, they'd leave in a heart beat, you'd have to be an idiot to think otherwise.
