Yes, we need to crack down on those 20% of Wal-Mart shoppers and 8% of Target shoppers that are falling through the cracks of the self-policing efforts in effect with the current ratings systems.
I'm fine with making the ratings official, rather than self-policing, but stop pretending like a five-year-old can buy Bulletstorm. Sheesh.
It doesn't matter if it is "for gamer's benefit." I have awful "i live in the country" internet service that goes out every time a thick cloud floats above my general area, much less rain and wind. Why would I buy a game with always-on DRM if it won't play half the time?
I'm glad Shepard's story is over, ME3 was such a freaking let-down I just want to be able to pretend it never existed. Now we have to deal with the whole prequel/sequel thing because of the ending of ME3. In my opinion, there's no way to do a sequel unless you retcon everyone who didn't pick whatever they decide the canon was. Unless you want four different versions or just don't care about ME continuity. If they do a prequel, well what's the point, we all know how that's going to end (red, green, blue, middle finger). I doubt this will be something I get until bargain bin days.
My mantra is "Friends don't let friends finish Mass Effect 3." I can't help it. It's practically "the game that shall not be named" for me. Six months later, and it's still just a huge freaking downer.
I did play the game. I stood in line at midnight, bought the 80.00 collector's edition, and took a week's vacation to play this game. I finished it March 10th. I have not picked it up since. I have never been so disappointed in a game. I had 26 Shepards waiting to go, and I played only one of them because the ending was just that bad. If you liked it, I'm really happy for you. I didn't, and it killed the entire ME franchise for me. There is no point in buying DLC just to see the same craptastic ending again. Bummer, but hey I have almost 900 hours in Skyrim. :-)
Pass. That's what, $25 I saved so far (didn't get Leviathan either). Spoiler alert: your choices don't matter in this game. And the ending is a bit of a cloaca.
Actually it has over 40,500 votes now. Thanks to Gamespot for providing the link. If ME3 is art, and I pay for that art, then I am therefore an art patron. I don't pay Bioware to make art that they like, I pay Bioware to make art that I like. If they can't do that, then why should I pay them?
The work of art may be done, but they sold me a Warhol that I thought was a Picasso. Artistic vision is just fine and dandy. It's great that they have it. I support them exercising it. But when their artistic vision in no longer in line with what I am happy with, then they shouldn't expect to get any more of my money. I am not entitled to a new ending. I am however allowed to refrain from any further patronage of their art. I behaved as a fan instead of an informed consumer. That won't happen again. My mistake.
