EA will say to a gamesite: hey, look at the crap reviews you gave to my games, i will reduce or pull my advertisement from your site

or they will not hand out early copies for reviews, stuff like that

Ow wow, just saw they made the distinction between major and midsize publisher, otherwise EA would be 3rd or 4th
