Fresh Start

I'm all moved in at the new apartment. I actually like it a lot considering it only took me 4 days to find it. It's much nicer than the old apartment I had with my ex - really clean and bright. My kitty Cheeto is adjusting quite well too. Although I guess as long as he has his mouse toys and somewhere comfy to sleep he's happy.

I'm waiting on a couple more pieces to my home theater system to get delivered Thursday and then I just have to finish hooking everything up. I hope I can do it myself because it would make me feel accomplished but if not I guess one of my friends could stop over and help.

Since I had to leave my old place unexpectedly I lost a bunch of shows that I was watching so I'll have to do some searching online to get caught back up. I also need to get back into watching Lost. I was doing so good catching up before this happened. I'm about mid-way through Season 4.

I'm also bummed that I lost all the Supernatural episodes I had DVR-ed. I was really getting into that show and was starting season 3. I guess I'll be busy on Netflix for a while.

I debated getting HBO so I could watch True Blood when it comes back - that is probably my most anticipated return - but I'll see how the finances go first. I'm sure there is always a way to see it online too (we'll just keep that on the DL Wink).

Guess that's enough slacking for now...back to work I go

Topsy Turvy

The title pretty much describes my life over the last week. This time last week my boyfriend and I were getting ready to sign the P&S on our first house. But an hour before our appt to go do so, he informed me he's reconnected with his first girlfriend from his hometown and they've been basically getting back together for the past 3 months so that was it. We were together more than 5 years. I had no idea anything was going on so I feel pretty dumb. I got my s**t together pretty fast and found an apartment 4 days later. I've been packing like crazy while trying to balance my busy job and I move in tomorrow.

In light of my new found loneliness I will probably be back on here a lot more. Hoping I still know some people on here - I know there are a few of you left and hopefully I'll meet some more cool people to help me pass the time.

I get my internet hooked up Monday - can't wait.

Let's see if this works

I'm honestly not even sure if anyone I know is still on this site it's been so long since I've been a regular on here but it's a slow day so here goes nothing. I remember why I left though, I can't even post a blog without getting an error.

First - the TV stuff, because that's the reason why we're all here.

Current obsessions: Lost, Fringe, Supernatural

Lost: Yeah, so I'm only about 5 years behind the times but we just started watching the DVDs of Lost to catch up and we are sooo hooked. The real world may have just premiered season 6 but in my household - it's the season 3 premier tonight and I can't wait. SO NO SPOILERS!

Fringe: Fringe actually came first for us and was the reason we decided to start watching Lost. We've never missed an episode since it premiered and I am very excited for the "Winter Finale." What I like about this show is even when they have filler episodes, they still manage to keep me interested.

Supernatural: Another show that I should have discovered years ago - if only to drool over Dean. :P We just finished season 1 and are about to start season 2. I love the mix of suspense and comedy on this show....and I love Dean.

Biggest disappointments: Dollhouse, The Office

Dollhouse: We watched this show from the start and although the storyline seemed to have a ton of potential it never could quite get out of its own way. I thought perhaps they'd at least have a strong finale as last year's season finale with Alan Tudyk was quite good but no dice.

The Office: The office was the show that lead me to TV.com and is the source of inspiration for my screenname here. This past season has been pretty much unbearable for me to watch. It's like they've completely changed direction. I know that many argue that it's character development and people change - I understand that. But there has to be a way for them to grow and still be funny to me. I'm trying to get through the rest of this season but I may just stop watching altogether. I haven't really enjoyed an episode since season 4.

Now onto another topic I enjoy - me!

I've been dealing with a sinus infection this week which is no fun. Dana has been sick for the last 2 weeks and I finally caught it. Work has been slow lately after an insane last few months. The big news for us right now though is we are house hunting. It's so exciting and fun - we hope to be homeowners by the summer.

It's been so long since I've been on here I realize that my about me is quite inaccurate - my age is wrong, the picture of my cat is my old cat (he ran away and never came back last August). Not sure if I'll be back on here much but it was nice to kill some time waiting for the clock to strike 5 today.

I've found many of my old friends from here on facebook - if there is anyone else out there that wants to keep in touch, send me a PM and I'll get in touch with you so we can connect on facebook.

Enjoy the rest of your day everyone!

What Snoo?

Haven't been in a very bloggy mood lately but I'm way overdue to post something on here. It's a slow time for TV right now but a very busy time in real life for me. Tonight is my dad's retirement party. He's been teaching 6th-8th grade social studies for what seems like forever (really about 36-ish years)and is very excited to be done! He's lucky to be retiring so young as he's only 57 but he's planning on going back to work part-time almost immediately.

Then this weekend begins the festivities for my best friend's wedding - no not the movie. In lieu of the traditional bachelorette party we're planning a nice relaxing day with whale watching, lunch on the waterfront and manicures. I've never had one of those so hoping it's not too weird. I'm really not into the whole getting your nails done thing but I'll do it for her. :) Then next weekend is the wedding so Dana and I are going to spend a couple nights away for the rehersal dinner and the wedding since it's a bit of a drive. I haven't had much time off work all year so just having a couple extra days off for this will be nice. I only have to work Mon-Wed next week.

Today I have to rush to see if I can get my bridesmaid dress altered. I've been doing really well with diet/exercise and lost 20 pounds. I'm really happy but it stinks that I have to pay to get it altered again and I'm hoping they can turn it around quickly. Now I have only about 16 more pounds to go to my goal weight. I'm very much looking forward to having a flat stomach again!

As I mentioned, there's not a lot I've been watching on TV lately. The main show I'm following right now is Harper's Island. It's only got about 5 episodes left I think? It's getting really good. If you haven't seen it you can catch up on all the episodes online which is really cool. I think tv.com has them all.

ABC is finally airing the remaining Pushing Daisies episodes and soon they should be showing the last Dirty Sexy Money episodes too. Other than that I'm mostly watching baseball. Once Big Brother starts in July I will be watching that as well though since it's my guilty pleasure. I usually don't watch that kind of crap but it's more like a tradition now. :P

What is everyone else up to this summer?

It's a blog - so get to reading! :P

Things are finally slowing down at work...although somewhat artificially for me. We had a bad April (financially) so now they are distributing some of my projects so I can help out in sales again. Apparently I'm good at it although I never thought I was particularly great. The thing is - I haven't done it in so long that it's going to take a while to build up a client list again. Oh well.

So anyway, let's talk about TV. It's getting close to finale time for most shows - what shows are you most looking forward to?

My Top 3

- Dollhouse: It's really a shame that this show might not even get a 2nd season. A lot of people seem to be really critical of this show but I have found it engaging and interesting every single week. Last week's reveal of Alpha was incredible but even the more "filler" episodes were enjoyable in my opinion. The acting on this show is solid and I will very much miss this show if Fox doesn't renew - although I can't say I will be surprised (Firefly, anyone?)

- Fringe: This show consistently has me on the edge of my seat. Every episode is like a super intense action/sci-fi movie. It's got a great ensemble cast and I love the layers of plot. Just when you think it can't get any stranger - it does and it's excellent. We're finally going to get to see William Bell and I can't wait to see what unfolds.

- How I Met Your Mother: This season started out slow for me. I've been watching this show since the beginning and it was starting to feel like it was getting off track about it's true purpose - the story of how Ted met his wife. At the end of this week's episode though it's finally starting to feel like it's going somewhere. One good thing about this show is it keeps us guessing every week.

If you had asked me what shows I most looked forward to a couple of years ago I guarantee you that House and The Office would be at the top but lately I just don't get that excited about them lately. I feel like the best years of those shows are behind them. While both are still entertaining enough that I still watch them and certainly better than a lot of the crap out there, I feel like they've really lost their way with the writing.

The Office has just strayed so far from the simple gags and office-related plotlines that it feels like a completely different show sometimes. I'm all for character development but sometimes I just think they're running out of ideas and have no idea where they want the show to go.

House's latest plot device - hallucinations - seems like another cheap ploy. The case of the week stories are getting more and more far-fetched and much less interesting. They keep killing off the characters who I actually like (and bringing them back as ghosts/hallucinations is not going to fix it). I really don't care about all the relationship stuff they've brought into the show either. If I wanted to see that I would watch Grey's Anatomy.

Has anyone been watching Harper's Island. It's nothing amazing but it is an entertaining little 13 week series that seems to be keeping us all guessing whodunnit. It's a fun watch and I love trying to guess who is the killer/who is the next victim.

I'm still watching and loving Trailer Park Boys - about to start season 5. I can't wait! Well it's supposed to rain for at least a week straight here so I should have lots of time for TV watching.

Hello!

Hey everyone...long time, no blog. I haven't been around the site really at all for a solid 2 months so I figured I'd stop by and say hello. The good news is, the reason I haven't been on here is because work is still very busy. In this economy, I have to be grateful for that. Things are crazier than normal because in my already overworked dept of 3 people, one of the other girls had her first baby on March 9th so she is out for 12 weeks. She had a healthy little boy, Caleb, and they are all doing very well. Basically until she is back, me and the other woman have split up her projects and added that to our existing workloads. I'm starting to get better at handling the stress I think...and wine is a wonderful thing. :P

I'm still watching plenty of television of course. We just finished season 3 of Bones so by the fall I should finally be caught up. Next we are tackling Dexter, we've seen season 1 and I have season 2 and 3 on dvd so we just have to start watching them. I've really been enjoying Joss Whedon's new show Dollhouse - so nice to have a new show from him. In addition to all my usual shows, we've also recently started watching Trailer Park Boys - just about done season 3. I think it is one of my new favorites. Bubbles is the best character ever! Maybe it's my French Canadian heritage but I've decided that I love Canadian comedies. Corner Gas and TPB are 2 of the funniest shows I have ever seen.

Not much new going on in my personal life. Me and Dana are excited for summer and taking the motorcycle out. I'm thinking about taking a motorcycle safety training course to get my license too. Not sure if I'll have time to do it this year but maybe next year. I would eventually like to get a bike of my own. Baseball season is just around the corner too. I am doing fantasy baseball again and we just had our draft. Last year I came in 2nd place and I'm definitely shooting for first this year. I got some good picks in the draft so it's definitely possible.

I'm not sure when I'll have time to get back on here again but I hope everyone is doing well. I miss talking to the people I've gotten to know on here but I haven't had much free time to spare lately. Hopefully once work slows down a bit I can become more active on the site again.

Leave comments if you can, I'd love to hear from you! :D

Level 20???

I'm sick of being Level 19, 99% so I figured I'd crank out a super quick blog to see if it can push me over the hump. Work is still crazy but I promise to read blogs and catch up on PMs soon. I just finished watching Firefly and Serenity for the first time - now I'm sad there is nothing new left to watch for this series. I absolutely loved it and will surely rewatch. Why does Joss always have to kill some of his characters after I fall in love with them! Anyway, gotta get back to work, still trying to play catchup so hopefully I don't have to spend all weekend doing work stuff and can actually do my taxes and clean my house. Plus - Superbowl Sunday! I think I want Arizona to win since they've never won a superbowl but mostly I'm just excited to watch it on the new HD TV. :)

That's all for now - happy Friday everyone!

In desperate need of a vacation...

I've been working 12-15 hour days plus weekends for about 3 weeks straight now and not sure how much longer I can keep it up. My company needs to occasionally learn to say no to clients and their crazy rush projects. Our company is way too small to handle so much work with so few people.

I've barely had any time to watch tv, go online for non-work reasons, or do pretty much anything other than work and sleep. The worst part is I won't be able to take more than a day or 2 off here and there until at least july because one of the girls I work with is about to have a baby.

That's all the ranting I have time for now - just thought I'd post something so you know I'm still alive.

Back to reality

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Today I'm back at work but only until Wednesday afternoon - then I get another 4 day weekend. The surprise blu-ray player was a great success. Dana loved it - and had no idea that I had got it. We were so excited to use the blu-ray to its full potential that we ended up going out the day after Christmas and getting a brand new 40 inch flat screen HD LCD tv to go with it.

I also got Guitar Hero world tour - which is amazing on the new TV as well. It has so many more songs than the other guitar hero games.

I'm in TV heaven. Can't wait to get out of work so I can watch some more TV. :P

Office Christmas Party

2 Blogs in 2 days - it's a Christmas miracle! :P

Last night was our office party, which I helped to plan, and I must say - a fun time was had by all. We had tons of food and drinks - it was potluck and everyone did a great job. We got people to play our scavenger hunt game - even the doubters ended up having fun. We put up a Christmas tree and ordered personalized ornaments for everyone in the company.

Then we did our company tradition of the "special" fishbowl prizes. The fishbowl is filled with names - you get your name put in by other co-workers whenever you go that extra mile to show their appreciation. Normally, we have monthly lunchtime staff meetings and one name is selected and they get a choice of 3 prizes, like a digital camera or a gas card (prett nice stuff). But during the holiday party they step it up and 3 people get chosen for 3 really awesome prizes. This year, the prizes were: a sony blu-ray player, a bose computer speaker surround sound system and 2 round trip airline tickets anywhere in the continental U.S.

I never win these things but this year my luck changed and I actually won the Blu-Ray player! Dana has been dying for one of these so I've decided to keep it a secret and keep it wrapped and hidden until Christmas morning. Then after we've opened all the other gifts I will let him know there is one more gift for both of us from "Santa" and surprise him with the Blu-Ray player. We're planning to buy a new flat screen HD TV after the new year anyway so this will go perfectly. I can't wait to see his face. :)

Well it's time for me to blow this pop-stand. Happy Holidays everyone!
