I'm getting a little worried about my ps3. It's an 80gb model and I haven't had any real problems with it. I've had it for a year now, but one thing I noticed is that it doesn't seem as quiet as it used to be. The fans tend to go pretty fast now and sometimes it feels pretty hot where the air is coming out. I'm worried that it's going to progress and the system is going to break. I also noticed more freezes lately. I'm not sure if it's from certain demos because it doesn't really happen with the games I bought. It should have plenty of room as there's about half a foot on each side and much more room behind it. It doesn't seem really dusty when I look in the vents so I'm not sure if it needs to be cleaned or not.

If it does need to be cleaned, what's the safest approach? On other forums I've read that compressed air is risky and should not be used. I also read that vacuums can damage the inside by causing static or something.

Is it possible that the newer games are just more stressful on the system? I just remember when I first got it how quiet it was. Now it gets fairly loud when I play a game for a couple hours or something. It doesn't seem to run like that when I'm sitting in the xmb so the fans do slow down.

If anyone has any idea what the problem (if there is one) is, I would appreciate some help.

Was there any clicking sound coming from the controller before it broke? I returned a DS3 that I bought with mgs4 and I only had it for a couple weeks. R2 started making this clicking sound when I compressed it and the stick was making a noise when I moved it. It wasn't that loud but it wasn't there when I bought it so I didn't want to take any chances.

Ok, if I preorder this game from gamestop are they gonna open it up and put their grubby hands all over it? I keep reading about people buying new games from them that are opened with fingerprints and crap. I don't like the idea of spending 85 bucks on the LE to have some idiot rummage through my stuff. I'm considering preordering it online, but I doubt I would get it by the weekend as it would ship on a thursday. The only reason why I'm gonna preorder from a store and not online is so I can play it that weekend some and not have to wait til the following week. Anyone know if they ever open preorders on the first day?

Why does it tell me to enter a Konami ID, Game ID, and the passwords when I hit next? My passwords fit the guidelines so it seems like it's rejecting everything I type.

Why don't people just clear their CC info after they buy something? Is it really that much effort to enter it every time you use it? I guess people that buy every single thing that goes on sale in the playstation store might get annoyed but I've only needed to buy an expansion and that's it. I would rather enter the information several times than have anything on display to possibly steal.

Well it seems to be working fine all of the sudden and I didn't really change anything. I set it up again and it seems fine now. Hopefully I won't have any more problems. Thanks for the help.

I had no trouble initially setting up my linksys wireless G router with my ps3. However, I decided to set up security on the router and now I am having problems. I set up WEP 64 bit security (I know hackers can hack it in 10 seconds but everything is apparently easy to hack) and I have the key set up and everything. I set up the router with the ps3, but when I actually try to connect, I cannot get an IP. My signal strength is pretty much always a minimum of 70%. I have tried connecting with and without the MAC filter as well. I'm really confused because I had to use the WEP key when I was entering the settings for the router on the ps3 and it worked then. Now I can't even get an IP so I'm not sure what the problem is because it seemed like I got through the security. Does anyone have any idea of what I could have done wrong?

I just wanted to say that according to one test, the remote start up standby eats considerably more power than standby activated by pressing the button on the ps3:

I was just about to post about this. I wanted to play some warhawk but I noticed I've been getting signed out about every 30 mins also. I'm using a Linksys wireless G router.

I read that the gold plated ones are good. I also remember reading about a specific type of connector that doesn't come loose as easily? Not too sure what it was, but suggestions on a solid, cheap cable would be appreciated
