Don't know why everyone is fighting about MS versus Sony versus WII. I have an XBox, PS2 Slim and Gamecube. Like them all, and have the three because I like games on all three of them. They all have their good games and bad games, it's all about the games isn't it? Most households have DVD players so why would that be a selling point for either the 360 or the PS3, Xbox or the PS2??? WII is great for some people who like the exercise and the "gee whiz" of the new technology, but the graphics....well not the best of the three. PS3, Blu Ray, nice touch and just a Blu Ray player costs almost as much as a PS3. Now I bought a PS3 this last Christmas because the graphics of the 360 and the PS3 are really awesome. Why a PS3 you might ask.......well just read all the forums.......I prefer a piece of hardware that works most of the time......"read RROD". I have been told that MS has the newer systems fixed, but prefer to see what their track record looks like in a year or so. I am rooting for them as I would prefer to buy "Made in the USA", but hey, red lights are just not that exciting to me. But then I could be wrong.

No problem KnArFnB, will try the cables without the switcher one of these days. Was just curious if they would be better then the HD Adapter, and they are about the same, maybe the monster video is a little better, but not enough to make me anxious to change.

Thanks for the replies. The switchbox I have is the component switchbox that Gamestop sells for 20.00. Allows for three component systems and one composite system. Seems to work with all other cables. I have a PS2 slim connected via component cables and the xbox connected via HD AV adapter and component cables which work fine. Seems to be on the Audio side on these monster cables......video is great, but audio has a terrible buzz....like electromagnetic interference. Only equipment which is on is Xbox and monitor period. Cables only cost 22.50 from ebay were new and in sealed original package. Guess I will stick with the HD AV Adapter for now, but sure am disappointed with these so called state of the art cables!!! Live and learn I guess.

I have a HD AV Adapter which works fine through a switchbox. However, I decided to purchase a set of Monster XGL400 Component Cables.....here is my problem. The connections are way toooooo tight and when I finally got them connected to my switchbox I got a terrible audio buzz. Never could get that buzz to disappear!!. The video was great, maybe a little better then the HD AV Adapter but the buzz is too much to put up with. I thinks maybe the switch box is causing it, but am afraid to connect the set too the monitor as don't want to break the Component inputs on the monitor.....really they are that tight. Don't want to take the switchbox out of the equation as I also have a PS 2 Slim connected which I like to switch back and forth (only have one set of component inputs on my monitor. Also would never be able to switch the cable back and forth (PS2 to XBOX and vice versa) as once the monster cables were connected to the monitor, I think it would be for life! Any one else have this problem.

Tried the trick before I bought the HD AV Adapter off EBay, didn't work. Really not Gamestop's fault about the component cables, I blame it on Mad Catz. It is called a Universal Component Cable Legacy.......The "legacy" should have clued me in. It has the three (red,green,blue....component) two (red,white.......audio) and a yellow (composite) cable and three console connectors, one for the PS3/2, one for the XBox360 and one for the XBox........which must be what the legacy, ie composite cable is for. I suppose Gamestop should get the particulars on what they sell, but we can't be perfect I guess. We have 8gamestops in the area and I have used 5 of them with no problems other then this cable, which I kept, use it for my PS2 Slim, works as advertised for that system. Plus they have a great selection of PS2 and XBox used games at outstandng prices all guaranteed to play or they will exchange them within 7 days. Seeing my son fork out a minimum of 50 dollars per game for his PS3 makes that a big plus in my book. Have only had to exchange 1 so far, and it played, but was really scratched up.....No problem at all in exchanging it. Ordered a Monster XBox component cable off EBay the other night want to see if it is any better then the HD AV Adapter, just curious. Think i mentioned the price on another thread, 12.50 and 10 I think for the shipping, so 22.50 not bad, I don't think. Will let you know if I find any difference in the Adapter or the Monster Cables. Don't see how the Monsters can be much better. Have purchased a few games recently that are Wide Screen and support up to 1080i and they are extremely clear and much better then the composite picture. 720p is much betther then 1080i, is that normal? Guess Progressive is better then Interlaced, as is advertised. Hey thanks everyone, for the advice!

I bought the Legacy cables from GameStop and they did not work on my XBox Ver 1.6 at all. I bought a HD Av Adapter on Ebay for 9.99 plus 9.99 shipping (20.00) Works like a charm but had to then buy a set of regular component cables (RCA on both ends) these cost 11.99 so spent 32.00 total. But the results are spectacular!! Can get 480p, 720p and 1080i all in WS if the game puts out those resolutions. Matrix, Freedom Fighters, True Crime in LA look spectacular in 720p. I use a 21 inch Gateway FPD2185W computer monitor capable of all these resolutions with componet inputs. All other games capable of 480p are also great looking with the HD AV Adapter. But after hearing from KnArFnB in another thread I ordered the same cables he has. Cost me the about the same. 12.50 and 9.00 for shipping (21.50). Hey I have always heard monster cables are the best. Thanks KnArFnB, should get the cables in a day or two and will let you know if I can see any difference. Hate to admit it but have a brand new PS2 Slim and since I bought this XBox used from GameStop haven't turned the PS2 on!! Have 6 games for the PS2 and about 15 for the XBox. Oh well live and learn.

The cable mentioned above do not give you the option of 480p, 720p etc. When setting the the monitor/tv to component you get a "no signal detected". Works for a 360 and PS2 but not the Xbox. This cable also has a 6th cable (yellow) for composite and the Xbox only works with this plugged in. I am pretty sure that is what they meant by Universal, too bad they don't tell you that before you buy it.

Found a set like you have on line also. If the HD AV Pack doesn't work will order them. May order them also, to bypass the HD AV Pack, as now I will have to purchase some regular component cables to go from the pack to the Monitor, as what I ordered did not have the cables with it. Was 9.95 plus shipping 9.95 (20.00). I found cables like yours for 15.99 up to 50 something. Too bad I ordered the other, but like I said you live and learn. Thanks again for the help.

I bought that same set and can only get composite output on my XBox Ver 1.6. Works great on my PS2 Slim gives me both composite and component output. Are you plugging in the yellow (composite plug also?). Clerk told me that I would need the HD AV Pack to make the XBox put out a signal on composite cables. Ordered one from Ebay the other day. Should get it soon.

Thanks, bought a HD AV Pack off EBAY 20 dollars with shipping. Would prefer your cables, but ordered the pack last night. Oh well, if the HD AV Pack doesn't work will look for a set like you have. Guess there is a difference in Component cables. The ones I bought from GameSpot didn't work, and one of the sales clerks told me that I would need the HD AV Pack because just component cables wouldn't work alone. Live and learn I guess. Thanks again.
