It can be for several reason; the dog may not be able to see, may not be able to walk very well, may not be able to hear. It can be a combination of those examples, and more. Life for a dog isn't great when all they can do is lay there.

Sorry for your loss. I went through that over a year ago, and it's not fun. Nothing I can really say, just remember the happy times, put out a picture, or things your dog liked to play with. Doing a few things like that just helps.

Nah, when it's a wallet I'll just turn it into the closest business, or the most likely place they went to. Straight money on the ground though, that's a different story...depending on the amount.
