i am a recovered world of warcraft addict i would say a little less then 5 years invested, and i vowed never ever again to get sucked in to anything like that again. i stayed away from online games for about 3 years since then.

i came across world of tanks, as a free to play game, and ive tried alot of free to play games since wow and i find wargamings model so subtle that i decided that it was a good idea to invest in them.

i know not everyone is a fan of world war era tanks, but the subject is a free to play game that gets all the mechanics right that i wanted to pay to support their non invasive way of asking for money. which if someone enjoys the game, the company has every right to get paid for it.

-good solid content is rolled out almost on a monthly basis

-you can play for 10 minutes or 10 hours in a sitting

-the interface is nice

-the controls are tight

-the battle mechanics feel like they have weight to them

-match making is very fast (you can be shooting your gun within 60 seconds of clicking the icon to start the game)

-not paying a dime will not stop you from doing everything the game has to offer

-paying for premium ammo feels good to the player shooting the shell, but it will not be noticible by the person hit by it so you dont get that feeling that you were killed by a "wallet warrior"

That being said. Ive sunk an estimated 500+ hours and $130 into the game, with at least the first 150 hours played for free. and i plan to keep playing the game into the future. i think their model is a very solid one. i would be happy to see more games follow them

i have not played a football game besides bloodbowl, but i feel that it should take no overhead to rehash the same game every year

the technology for holodeck needs to start somewhere!

@BoltNinety you are probably right, but wow took enough time away from my life, i too do not have the time to devote to an MMO again.
