@commander: Maybe. I would love to prove you wrong because of my problems with the new Bioware, but I did not played the game so I can´t tell if you are right (in my view) or the reviewer.

If it were ME3 it would be easy to put that game in the mud, Andromeda is a different horse for me.

I try to give you an example with Enslaved:Odyssey to the West, great game for me, not a great game for many other people. And that´s ok, we don´t need all to have the same tastes. And yes, tastes matters in the review, because tastes are an inner part of the person making the review.

Far Cry and AC are not rpgs. The storytelling are a little concern when comparing those games with ME. I know there are things that this game gives you that no other can give, so enjoy those things and ignore the bad reviews or the bad reception of other fans.

I love TLOU, the game is praised by some people and hated by other people. It´s irrelevant to my view of the game. Maybe is just me, I don't understand the hate towards game that are not important for us. If I hate a game I just don´t play it, easy. But that doen´t mean that a game I hate is bad or a game I love is good. Tastes are always on the table.

If now you are thinking: "yeah but you hate ME3". That's true. It´s the only game I hate in 35 years of life.

What I mean is... it is just a review. Nothing more, nothing less.

@commander: "But this wasn't about that, it's about the score 6 out of 10, which is (from a professional standpoint) too low for a game like this."

A review is always a personal view of something. It's impossible to have the same review from different persons. Maybe this score is a little harsh, but maybe an 8 is too much.Yet you have to sides and you are just focusing on one side because for you it is a good game. I can go much further on this because I have no proper knowledge of the game and its flaws. The best part of this game is that, so far, is a stand alone game, there are no choque waves as in ME3. If the game is bad, the only problem is this game, if is ok, same goes around.

@commander: "This isn't about what you like..."

Did I said otherwise? This isn´t about what you or I like, is about all the things a game should have.

"If it's a good game, then it's a good game."

Yeah... but so far most review are pointing to not so good. So maybe you are the one who is wrong. Have you ever thought about it?

"you shouldn't let the dialogue and the story play such a major role."

In an rpg? Are you joking?

"Mass effect andromeda wasn't meant to be cutscene heaven like me2 and me3, it's obvious when you look at the amount of content you can explore, the attention for graphics when it comes to planetary scenery and the fleshed out combat."

So don´t call it ME, call it Gears of War: Andromeda. The review may have the same score but the reaction of fans would be more soft.

@commander: "if you say graphics are irrelevant, you might as well be denying the light of the sun, graphics have been a consistent selling point and a measurement for quality throughout gaming history."

I didn't say that graphics are irrelevant, I said that graphics are irrelevant for me. Obviously I love a game who looks almost real, but I gave you an example of a game with limited graphics who is superb. There are other caracteristics in a game who, I do believe, are more important than graphics.

"resident evil has done this already numerous times..."

You missed the reaction to RE6 didn't you? :)

"besides they didn't call this game mass effect 4"

It´s a ME game... Come on... We need some level of criticism.

"I doesn't matter that you need more than combat, that's the whole point of making an unbiased and professional review."

Take this at heart and think about what you are saying. It doesn´t matter if you just need combat and exploration, that's the whole point of making an unbiased and professional review, all things must be taken in consideration.."

"Don't tell me mass effect isn't about the combat either, I replayed mass effect 1 on the highest difficulty level just because of it."

I replayed ME1 a lot of times because of the amazing story and what it made me feel.

"Me2 was nowhere near the level of me1 in my personal opinion but if I had to write an unbiased review about it I would have scored it similar, because while it dropped a lot of stuff from me1 , it did do a lot of things better."

Funny, I think the same way, but with different reasons on the table.

ME1 - Plot, ambience, exploration

ME2 - Characters, awesome moments, ambience.

ME1 wins in consistency, ME2 wins in making you feel part of a crew.
