@mem: Agree with almost everything except the blame on EA. I hate EA, it´s the worst crap in gaming but, those ending have a name (or two), Supermac and casey Hudson.

@dnsfw_jamus: "it's no more rape than the thousands of vectors which subtly change your dna on a daily basis,"

LOL... Really? Do you know the difference between sustained evolution (normally defined by nature) and forced evolution? How can you say this without blush...

"changed the dna of everyone in the galaxy in order to help them understand each other better"

Before I explain why this is stupid let me ask you... How a DNA change will result in understanding? The thing that makes us apart, is feelings, not image/looks. This is so damn stupid that it hurts...

"at least half a brain" meaning a criteria which you are well below"

I understand perfectly. What you did not understand is that you are a ME3 fan, so any try of insult is a recognition of inferiority.

"but thanks for proving my point for me kiddo :)"

You are a ME3 fan, you can try to make points... and the key word is try...

"we both know you lost"

We all lost... we are talking about ME3...

"sry bub, but youre done"

Trust me... I'm just getting warm...

@dnsfw_jamus: "wildly blowing things out of proportion by saying Shep is the villain"

Three choices, three crimes. Rape, Genocide and Totalitarianism. You can't deny this, that's why I´m not lying or "wildly blowing things out of proportion"...

"and just plain lying by saying that the boy is in control of everything when he clearly isnt"

Sorry but... Did you not read what I said before? I told you clearly: "The kid says: I control the reapers, they are my solution."

It´s in the game. How can you deny what the kid says?

I think that all he says is stupid, but you choose to believe in him. How can you debate this?

"you just choose to ignore them, which is why anyone with at least half a brain knows you're full of shit :)"

Trust me, I always read carefully any response. It´s the only way to not allow any stupidity to pass...

That's why I do agree with your last sentence. I may be full of shit to you... but what to expect of a ME3 fan? We all know they only use half a brain...Eheh

@dnsfw_jamus: "fair enough, I got those two mixed up (as far as the red and the blue thing, simply because it was a long time ago)"

That´s ok. After so long it happens....

"I've provided examples, and proof as to why you're so very wrong,"

No you didn't. You describe some game moments without questioning what is happening. Breath scene logic? You don´t care about. Crucible logic? You dont´t care about.

I'm using logical interpretations you are eating everything they threw at you without questioning. I'm talking about logic, that´s my biggest problem with this game.

"you grossly misinterpreted just about everything about the story"

If that were the case you certainly would counter argument my statements. You can´t. And that´s a normal thing. You must not forget the Indoctrination Theory. The writing of ME3 is so bad that led to the criation of a fan theory to justify crimes, stupidities and plot holes.

Right now you must be thinking... this guy is angry and sad, that´s not true, since The Walking Dead Episodes and The last of Us I´m ok with games again. But ME3 is something I will never forget. The worse experience I ever had in a game, and the reason of the destrution of two of my favourite games.

But hey, good games, have fun. In the end... tastes.

@dnsfw_jamus:

Damn... This is a bit sad. You are a ME3 fan, you should know of what you are talking about.

I have problems with the English, sadly for you, not with the interpretation of the the game.

“first off, blue was genocide, and red was a mix of totalitarianism and rape (sort of, if subjugation of the reapers can be considered rape)”

Red is the choice where you kill the Geth and the Reapers. Killing the Geth you are performing a genocide. And blue is the choice in where you control the Reapers. The choice in where you become the great Dictator.

If you have doubts about this, how can you be debating about bad writing?

“Green was a general assimilation so that every species understood each other without changing their innermost self, did you even watch the epilogue?”

Yep... Sadly I saw the endings too many times. And I did that only to be able to debate this with ME3 fans. Eh Eh. Green is, as you clearly said "general assimilation". But this assimilation is made based on a single decision. Shepard choice. Everyone is going to change no matter their values or their desires. That's when the rape starts. When people are changed without their consent. When their core is altered, to fulfil the desires of the glowing kid.

"every species understood each other without changing their innermost self"

And this is where the logic falls. If the changing is only physical there is no comprehension, otherwise Shepard is already in the Synthesis state. Because he is already partly Synthetic.

Synthesis can only work with mind alteration AKA brainwash. But it's irrelevant, it's a violation of people freedom, a massive rape without justification.

“Also regardless of who presents the choices you still have free will”

To have free will you need liberty. In those ending you haven't liberty. You have 2 paths (1 in the original endings), to do what the kid wants or to die (in a middle finger way). ME1 Shepard had free will, ME2 Shepard had free will, ME3 Shepard... no.

“And considering he changes everyone's DNA only to the point that they no longer have a reason to be so violent towards one another”

In the epilogue you see zombies with green eyes, nothing more. You need to look further. Everyone looks happy? Obviously... as I said brainwash. Also, in order for synthesis to work you need to control the essence of all conflict, feelings. Without that synthetis is an empty shell. But at the same time, if you control / change feelings you change the essence of what makes us "humans". I could go on, but I don´t think you want to go that way...

“ (note: these are all things that the green option did)”

In other words, a massive rape complemented with a brainwash. Like I said before...

“The child doesnt control anything, it's a manifestation of the combination of the catalyst 2.0 and the reaper ai. It has its own agenda, but it can't actually do anything, which is why it presents you with 2 of the 3 options in an attempt to trick you.”

I agree with the trick part, that's the only explanation about the kid. His logic makes no sense and can be disproved easily.

But you are wrong in one particular point. He controls the Reapers. Now is my time to ask you... Did you play the ending sequence? He clearly says to you: "I control the Reapers, they are my solution"...

“It had plenty of respect for the foundations of the franchise, regardless of how well (or in your case the other thing) you understood them.”

No preparations for the reapers invasion (after arrival dlc). Deus ex Machina device (crucible). Dark energy plot ignored. Shepard becomes the "crying baby" of the galaxy and in the end becomes the main villain of the game. ME1 or ME2 Shepard would kick ME3 shepard head without pity.

You are right on one thing, there are two missions tuchanka and rannoch that are good. It was a great use of ME1 and ME2 plot and relationships. It is the only part of ME3 that feels like ME. But that´s it...nothing more... too little.

“so yeah, as evidenced by literally everything that you've said which is incorrect, you clearly don't know what you're talking about.”

Of course not... You don't know which ending is which. You think that synthesis is a good thing because everyone is smiling, and you talk about respect for previous games when obviously that didn´t happen. But ok, you know a lot about ME universe...

Well, after ME3 it is normal this kind of debates. Who cares about narrative when we can debate love interests, shooting or characters edition....

@Skullkid_IX:

“Personally i feel you have a very negative view at the endings (possibly the entire ME3 as a whole?) and as such no matter what you do it will be negative.”

Of course I have a negative view of the game. And that happens because ME1 and ME2 were two of my favorite games. Now I can´t play them anymore. I could do as many ME3 fans and pretend that what Shepard does in those endings is something good, but it is not. You choose what the kid wants or you and everyone dies. So they won.

“That there are despair, fighting an enemy that is nearly impossible to defeat, i am glad we did not get an ending where you are literally just swooping in on earth and saving the universe and everyone in it with no sacrifices and no loss like some god-like being.”

And this is the point where must ME3 fans are wrong. Most people like me, were not begging for a rainbow ending. I would accept the death of all my crew and almost all the galaxy, but on our terms. With freedom of choice, with honor, and with respect for diversity. That´s why I loved ME1 and ME2, because principles could be preserved no matter the decision you would have to make. It was easy to choose between friends in ME1? No, but your actions are not of a bad person. That's the difference.

Ironically, what those endings tried to do is to give the rainbow endings, especially synthesis. But once you take a second to look at it closely you can see how scary and depraved that ending it is.

“No matter the choice you made at the end, it would be a bit grim, but there was some hope.”

Not really. In the blue explosion you have Catalyst 2.0, so everything's the same. Maybe not in the beginning, but we all know how the catalyst 1.0 line of thought evolved.

In the red explosion, and that´s why this choice is stupid, the future will result in mass extinction. This is the catalyst explanation. You can obviously disagree with him, but why would a ME3 fan not trust the glowing kid?

And then the green explosion, the massive DNA rape, who will never work without a brain wash... You see hope... I see despair...

“My favorite ending is destruction when you have a perfect war asset score, Shepard lives, your crew lives and earth is saved. I don't see much negativity in that ending.”

Because you are not looking clearly. Also, because that ending makes no sense.

Let me explain this in two parts:

The Choice: The kid gives you a choice of destruction of the Geth and the Reapers. So tell me... In what way destroy is a solution to his problem? If that were a solution he could have done it a long time ago without the need of the crucible. He clearly tells you, synthetics will be created again. All organics will die... So, destroy should have never been an option, because is not a solution (in the glowing kid logic). This is Supermac giving you the final we all wanted since the start (without the genocide obviously) but without logic. And he gives you this ending without logic in order for you and everyone to choose synthesis. The ending he thinks to be more artistic..

The Breath Scene: This is clearly fan service, but poorly executed. You are hit by an explosion (and you were already dying, or in very bad shape), then you are again hit by a super explosion (probably with the power of several nukes), then you are exposed to space without protection (no armor or helmet), but that´s cool, because even so you wake up on the rubble... I know ME3 fans want to justify everything, but there are limits to justify Supermac stupidity.

“Particularly i don't see the "for nothing at all." bit of your comment at the end there.”

You have reaper tech, you can destroy Reapers (yet they are still almost invincible), you have an united galaxy with many races with different qualities. You don´t use them in any way. You have the magical dildo, that´s the plot of ME3 and the only strategy of the game.

“Story wise, the mass effect games are my favourite with a very large margin, its very near perfect, that is my experience. If they had skipped the whole locking endings behind multiplayer or mobile it would have been flawless. :)”

I obviously disagree, but I respect people tastes. I will always defend that ME3 is the worse crap I ever saw. As a ME1 and ME2 fan I was devastated by ME3. They should have never dispatched Drew as a lead writer. Supermac tried to be artistic an in their pride they put the story of ME in the garbage and Shepard as a villain. It´s been 4 years. I take a look into this article and I was unable to control myself. Never hated a game before or after...

If I could use all my "gaming money" to make ME3 disappear from my memory would not hesitat.

@dnsfw_jamus:

You think I worry about what ME3 fans think? I´ll admit that my English is not good, my Portuguese is awesome, sadly no one would understand it. Eh Eh

“Second, the beginning sets the tone for how the third game would have to play out. If you can come up with one that makes any more sense, I'd love to hear it, but given the first point, I think it's pretty clear that isn't likely.”

Sorry but... Did you played ME1 or ME2? Do you know how the structure of a story works? Obviously ME3 beginning sets the tone of ME3, but this is ME3, the third game. Why is this important? Because it´s a damn trilogy, not a single game. The other two games need to be respected, the story, the tone, the choices. That´s why this game sucks so much, because it has zero respect for its foundations.

“Lastly in the end the enemy does not win…”

Really? Tell me, did you choose the refusal ending? No? So you choose one of the enemy choices... So far, he wins...

“the reapers are still either killed” “or controlled”

The reapers are controlled by the Catalyst 2.0. Or killed by the red wave. But wait a second... why this happens? Because the glowing kid allows you to kill them or to control them. You are doing what you are told to do. It´s the kid choices, not yours. You don´t have free will, you dont have power to change anything. You have a teorical victory that in fact is the victory of the catalyst. Obviously, his choices are based on the most stupid logic, we can debate that if you want, but that doesnt changes the fact that in the end, Catalyst Wins...

“there's literally no villains”

Wrong... There is the greatest villain of them all... Shepard. Three choices, rape (green), genocide (red) or totalitarianism (blue). What would you call to a Catalyst 2.0? What would you call to a person who makes a genocide (Geth)? What do you call to a person who changes everyone DNA´s without permission?

“So it's pretty clear that you don't know what youre talking about in the least.”

Yet... I probably know more about ME than you ever will... And that´s the more funny thing about ME3 fans. They think they are clever because they love ME3, yet, it´is their love for this game that proves the opposite....
