@id0ntkn0w7: "not firing someone for their political beliefs, a form of discrimination"
And who says it is for her political beliefs? She made a very stupid comparison. She is republican? Bad luck for the republicans. If she were democrat, it would be bad luck for the democrats... There is stupid people in all sides. But I undertand your point, only one side choose Trump...Eheh
"they should be less cozy with the oppressive, racist government of China."
I'm pretty sure if some chinese actress said something as stupid as what Gina said her future would not be bright either.
@rickxy007: "I don't blindly believe any sources, and truly I don't even take anybody's word at face value."
Funny... I agree with almost everything you are saying but we are on different sides of the barricade...
"not to chastise her over "abhorrent" posts or whatever"
They want to keep the distance far away as possible... And it makes sense.
"But the wrongdoing is in publicly shaming her..."
They said her comments are ""abhorrent" posts or whatever". In the end of the they, it was her posts. If her posts were ok Disney would look stupid, and right now the only thing stupid are their posts...
@rickxy007: "She said in a recent interview what she said, what she meant, and the inquisitive process she went through at Disney."
Oh... So, your source is just one of the sides... Right...
"Disney, as Apple, Netflix or any major corporation do not care about any of these issues. They care about money, and that is fine."
On this we agree... The thing is... I apply this logic always, you don't...
"This is not on Gina, nor on morals or ethics or freedom. It is simply playing to the mob."
Yes... The mobs who also have those exact points you are making, morals or ethics or freedom to expose their feelings. This is only a political debate in the US, thats the thing most of you are unable to see...
She is bad press, bad publicity and a dangerous person... to make things worse, she is not a good actress... so whats the point of keeping her? There are greater actress in the unemployment waiting for an opportunity...
@clubhouse: "purposely make it more difficult for her/him/them to find gainful employment elsewhere"
What? She is a "martyr" of the extreme right. Besides the fact that she is rich (way before Disney), she has new deals with (...) I dont know the name but there is a guy Shapiro (or something similar in the play) who is making a movie with her. So she is fine, and the guys who support her have their opportunity to go see her amazing acting qualities there...
"think how you would react if your ex boss went to every store in town and said things about you to every place you may ever consider applying."
The problem here is that you dont need Disney to do it... because she already does it by herself...
@id0ntkn0w7: But you are ok with forcing a company to work with someone who is damaging their image...
You will never going to have free expression if you can't accept that even freedom has boundaries. But those boundaries, while sometimes a pain in the ass are also the reason of the freedom to existence.
@matrix-54: No if she is part of Disney image. If she says stupid and irresponsible things disney image will suffer. And in their minds, one of the weaker actress they had doesnt worth the risk. Its simple math...
