I know devs like to feel important, but when they talk about having a greater "responsibility" as game makers, to make more meaningful games is almost laughable. There's a reason "meaningful" doesn't gross that well in the box office, there's a reason that movies like avatar and spiderman gross more than art house films. People want an escape from reality sometimes, they're not all idiotic sheep that need political and social enlightenment from pious devs.
We live in a society that has forgotten the meaning of personal responsibility. If someone does something bad, there MUST be something to blame...anything! Just not the person that did it, it couldn't be they were just a bad person, surely it's video games, or guns, or an addiction. We are moving to a place, it seems, where everything is OK under the right circumstances. This is just a delusional, some people are bad, and will do bad things, no matter how much you blame inanimate objects or circumstances.
I think if nintendo didn't step off center stage, they would look foolish, Wii-U isn't exactly making headlines like it's predecessor did. I hope nintendo steps up more than they have been, I used to be a big nintendo fan, just not that interested anymore. I still want them to succeed though, more competition in the industry means good things for all gamers. That being said, I think nintendo has gotten rather complacent, because they are nintendo, most recognizable name in video games. I think their fans do a disservice to nintendo and themselves with the blind allegiance, nintendo isn't your friend, you're paying them, demand the most from them, be critical of them. There are no perks to being a fanboy, there are perks however to demand more from a company you admire.
@camverge @DkandDiddyKongf I agree, nintendo just doesn't seem to care much about their audience...It's amazing to me how hardcore dedicated the extreme loyalists are to a company who doesn't even know their name. Nintendo shouldn't be your friend, they should want to make you happy, so you will give them your money.
@hochstreck Ugh, s annoying, I'm sure those females were forced to do that right? Why don't you blame them for taking the money? Surely women are smart enough to make that choice for themselves?
I love how everyone just assumes this is a man, lol. Tell me again why all men are evil women hating pigs? We've been conditioned as a culture to automatically assume if there was any kind of theft or embezzlement, it must be a man. :)
