Check the cable where it plugs in the 360. There is a switch to turn on the optical audio out. Not sure, but if it is on, it may disable the RCA audio out.

If you have an HDTV with an open HDMI port, I'd say go for the Elite. Then again, I think the black 360 is P1MP!

As far as picture and res go, it really has mostly to do with the TV (read quality) and size of the screen. Anything under 42", 1080p should not be a concern if you ask me. You're going to pay quite a bit more to get it, and the difference from a reasonable viewing distance will be negligible. As for cables, if I were you I'd settle for nothing less than HDMI. Monoprice.com (and many other sites, that's just the one I know) has very reasonable prices for cables (under $10 as opposed to $50+ retail).

Dude, it's so much based on pure chance, and don't even bother complaining. But after you expressed your aggravation you should have stopped right there, but no, you just had to say something about the other consoles and the "lack" of PS3 games, and for that you damn well deserve to get flamed. So if i may, *clears throat* "Just because you own all of the systems doesn't mean you're not a hater. But because of a little bad luck and overestimation of your chances you want to drag the PS3 into it and talk about the other systems, ohhhh hellzz no. So don't gimme this i'm disappointed and aren't there others who are recently dissapointed with sony??? NO. but i'll tell what i am dissapointed with, reading this whine-job, so cry me a ****ing river."

Thank you for reading this small flame, and as always nothing personal, posts like yours are very much needed, and they are the reason why we all go to the forums on GS, just not all will admit it.

Thanks for noticing dude. Honestly, I was just bored at the end of the day at work and thought I'd see if I could start a fight. Looks like it worked :D I could really care less about the whole thing, though I did sign-up for both betas. I assume I didn't get in because I was honest and told them I only play 3-4 hours a week because I DO have a life other than games. Off to play some Resistance! Later suckers.

What I mean by true HDTV is that anything under 32" is a waist as its hard to tell the difference from SDTV. I'm not referring to 1080p. Just thought I'd clarify that. You may have a different opinion, but from what I've seen of the really small HDTV's, they're not worth the price tag when you can get a much larger SDTV for the same $$ that looks just as good. That is unless you are strictly looking for a flat-panel, in which case I stand by my statement of monitor over "HDTV" under 32".

[QUOTE="boofa_2001"][QUOTE="dream431ca"]I have a better question, why the hell are you spending 400 dollars on a TV? Save up at least 1000 and that's at LEAST. Don't buy cheap, you'll be sorry you did.longhorn7
WORD! If your budget is that tight, you don't need to be getting into the HDTV market and need to stick with a monitor as the other poster suggested. Even if you buy a small HDTV (32" or so), you'll need to spend $800-1000 minimum to get a good quality set.

since when is 32'' considered small? Maybe I just grew up poor, but from what ive seen in mine and everyones I knows houses save for a few people, most of the televisions in their living room are 40'' and under down to about 30''...

That is true, however, we are talking HDTV here, 32" IS small for an HDTV, at least a true HDTV. In the past, 32"+ cost an arm and a leg. With the progression of technology, it has gotten much cheaper. Not to mention that much lower than retail prices can be had by buying online as online shops don't have the cost of maintaining a store front to deal with. I'm not saying you have to spend $1000 to get a good TV, just that you have to spend $1000 if you want a good quality, flat-panel HDTV. If you're a kid or a college student on a tight budget, get a nice 22" monitor and a TV tuner for your PC for ALOT less than $1000. Just don't confuse a $500 27" "HDTV" as being the same thing. I didn't grow up rich either, but I've always had a job and I was taught if you want something bad enough, SAVE FOR IT! If you're talking about today's instant gratification society, sure go out and buy a cheapo, low quality unit that you won't be happy with in 2 years. If you've got an ounce of self control, save up the extra and buy quality now that won't have to be replaced for years to come. That's all I'm saying.

I agree, sounds like a network problem. Maybe not necessarily with your ISP, but at least within your internal network. How many items are you running in your house? Is your PC Internet running slow as well?

Its kind of a pain to get running (or at least it was for me), but the Nero Media Home works well for me, and it will transcode other video codecs (Divx, Xvid, etc) so you can watch almost anything. I wouldn't recommend it if you're using a wireless connection though. Mine was getting the audio out of sync after a few minutes if anything else was going on in the background (i.e. a download or another program running on the PC). Wired it works great though.

Here's what I like and found a little more expensive, but oh well: http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?cat=Televisions&pid=05771927000&vertical=ELEC&subcat=HDTVs&BV_UseBVCookie=Yes This is the one I like and found.General_Lee45
You're actually recommending a Vizio to someone for gaming? I know a few people who have Vizio's, and while they're not bad as a second unit for a bedroom or something, they're not exactly primetime material from what I've seen. Sure, it'll do, but if you're going to spend $500-600, save a little more and get something better quality for $800-1000. Like this Samsung or Sony
