Once upon a time...

These cartoons have been broadcasted all around the globe but if any of you missed on them, you missed big time. They are a wonderful, entertaining and above all educational coproduction in which France, Canada, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, The Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Japan and Greece put efforts together. I still can sing the lyrics to all of them by heart (they vary from country to country though) I made the titles linkable in English, French and Spanish (sorry about the lack of accents), when available.

The bird is bird

If I would have cut its wings
it would have been mine,
it wouldn't have gone away.
But, had I done so,
it wouldn't have been a bird anymore.
And I... loved a bird.

Godparents

One of the best things about being part of this community is having the chance to talk to people from all over the world. That often brings about really interesting conversations, usually out of trivial topics. For instance, the other day I was talking to someone about godparents, and I was really surprised to know that in some countries, people can have 50 godparents. So, I am wondering...

Photobucket

1. How many godparents do you have?
2. Do they have a relevant role in your life?
3. Is there any special date/celebration involving godparents and godchildren?

1. In the case of my country (Spain) kids who are baptized get a set of godparents (a godfather and a godmother).

2. In theory, they should help the kid's parents to raise them under the Catholic Church predicaments, but actually, it's a mere arrangement that is made because of tradition and not because of faith. My godparents (my dad's sister and my dad's uncle) are just relatives like any other, and not really some I feel especially close to. I am godmother of my youngest nephew (and of Jenn here ;) ). I celebrate St. Mark's Day with him (see below) but I love him just as much as I love my other 3 nephews and my niece.

3. April 25th, St. Mark's Day, is the day godparents honour their godchildren. Tradition says godparents have to buy the typical St. Mark's cake for their godchildren. The cake has little furry chicks, coloured feathers and chocolate eggs. The number of chocolate eggs must match the years of age of the kid, but that hardly applies when kids grow older than 4. My old friends might remember the pics I've posted about it.

How about you guys? :)

My trip to JJ's - Part 2: Barcelona and the coast

Again just sceneries to respect the privacy of the people I spent those days with. This time I'm posting pics of Barcelona and the coast.

Barcelona is big and really nice. JJ made an absolutely great job at guiding us through the most representative spots around the city and we did a lot of sightseeing in a record time :D

St. Eulalia Cathedral. Scaffoldings are so annoying. I know they are needed to preserve History but I swear over 90% of the cathedrals in Spain have scaffoldings.

My trip to JJ's - Part 1: Girona

As some of you know, I recently got the chance to return the visit that JJ made me last summer, and I got to spend 4 wonderful days with her :D I'll spare the words and go to the pics. I'm sorry if it's boring, I wasn't really keen on posting them since it's just sceneries but I have to respect the privacy of the people I spent those days with. On the other hand, I have had to endure a lot of pressure to do it *glares at Gwen* and add to that that JJ didn't take any pic so well, I made my best to select some between my over four hundred LOL. Here we go with the first part of it.

I live to the west of the Pyrenees and JJ lives to the east, so it takes a 6 hour ride to make it. I chose the French route since it is almost an hour faster. It is a really nice view since the Pyrenees are almost all the time at sight. Here is the French side of the Pyrenees from the car.

Photobucket

The trip took half of the first day, so pretty much talked for the rest of it. Next day we visited Girona, the city where JJ was born and has lived at until recently.

St.Mary's Cathedral. Pity it is not allowed to take pics of the interior of it because it is really impressive, being the cathedral with the biggest gothic vault of Europe.

We managed to visit the city before lunch (late lunch but hey). Then we went to JJ's parents' house to gather some things, we also had time to go shopping to a town half way between Girona and the place where JJ actually lives and we even made it to the coast to check out a couple of places. Once back at her place, we baked some brownies. They were yummy indeed!

Next blog, our next stop: Barcelona ;)

Please read

I noticed that there are several users in my friends list whose blog updates aren't showing up in my profile page, which is pissing me off to no end

If any of you noticed that I stopped commenting on your blogs (or, if you are recent friends, that I never did) please send me a pm or post here and let me know. I'll stop tracking you and then start tracking you again (and It'll be great if you could do the same) because apparently that helps to solve it at times.

I'm awfully sorry if I made any of you feel ignored, it absolutely wasn't my intention at all. I'll try and catch up with your blogs soon. Sorry again and hugs :)

Pics Game - Round 6

Ok, here we come with the 6th round, I guess that by now everybody knows that this is an inner game between the friends I talk to everyday in the forums: I asked them to submit me an old picture of themselves and it is as easy, or as hard, as to pair names with pictures ;)

I'd like to thank all of those who took part for being as generous as to dedicate some time and effort to search for pics and scan them :D

Anyway, rules are as follows: PM ME YOUR GUESSES. We all know who we are, so we are gonna obviously get our pic right and that would ruin the game putting 2 and 2 together. Other than that, feel free to leave whichever comment in here :)

ALERT!! Since this time there are only 8 people taking part, I introduced two intruders that are none of us.

So, the people depicted below are (in alphabetical order) :

BM, Gwen, Hayley, JJ, Jenna, Lil, Robin and Stacy (+ 2intruders).

Time to guess! :D
