Heres a perspective from another country, Australia.

Xbox Live where im from is $100. Pretty expensive but when i bought it, it was totally worth it. Unlike the PS3, the layout was consistent, every X360 game is online enabled, a massively diverse marketplace, gamertag/score, friends, microphone enabled throught etc etc.

Also is the PS3 a fully connected service with one identity across your entire gameplay experience? Is every game online with voice chat integration? Do they have Achievements and Gamerscore? How are they handling safety, security, hacking, viruses, and parental controls?"

So im sure if you can spend $650 on a Xbox360, $100 isnt much more to unlock its true potential.

($AUD)

Xbox360 Premium = $600

Xbox Live = $100

Total = $700

Playstation 3 = $999

So thats the prices here in australia. X360 has more game diversity, features etc etc. Heres a perspective from another country
