brotherreese's forum posts
okay i tried the soft reset stuff by turning off the power to everything, then plugging it all in and nothing happened still. If it helps, my ethernet cable is about 40 feet long, is that too long for the ps3? If i remove the router and plug directly to the dsl modem, the lan indicator light on the ps3 flashes on off on off continuously. The tv screen/ ps3 screen is flashing "no ethernet cable plugged in" kind of in rhythm with the lan indicator light. WTF!!! I am thinking my router might be garbage but i can't connect directly to my modem either. So now I am thinking it is my ISP. Does anybody have EARTHLINK DSL for their ISP and do you have any problems? I don't want to go out and buy a bunch of new stuff if I don't need to so I guess if I know others are having problems with EARTHLINK that would tell me my problem. I see alot of posts on wirelesss routers but that doesn't help me too much so anybody have any more input for me?tc3kingIt could be the cable itself. They are fragile, and can break. Try another cable, and a different port on the router.
My original 60 Gb model finally gave out. The real problem with that is..
1) I have a Blu-ray stuck in the drive, and it won't come on long enough for me to get it out.
and 2) I never saved my game files to my thumb drive (like I kept saying that I would).
I tried to put my HDD (hard disk drive) in another PS3 to try and back it up, but that one just said that I should format my drive. It's not under warranty, so I doubt that Sony should just switch it for another system (I like being able to play PS2 games like Kingdom Hearts on it), but you never know. Who else has had this problem recently? Should I take it to Best Buy, or some other place to have it repaired?
If you have a 60 hz LCD, that can be expected. Not so much in a 120/ 240 hz models LCDs, or the plasmas either.
Two main questions is...
What is your NAT type?
Is your PS3 either have Port Forwarding configured, or in the DMZ?
Considering that the GotY edition comes with content that you'll normally have to buy ($30 U.S worth), I say yes.
If they do go that route, then they might as well just get a custom lightsaber that's also a PS Move controler. Different models, with different/optional colors.
If a digital signal couldn't be degraded, then there wouldn't be a limit on cable length. For those fighting FOR monster cables, please do your research in the future...A digital signal cannot be degrated. I did this test a long time ago on my 42" Panasonic plasma and my 40" Sony Bravia XBR. Monster vs. Monoprice 5 buck cable, no difference.
