@neatfeatguy: Good points, however to the FOV issue, I have a thought on that. Is it that it seems zoomed in, or that you are too low to the ground? I have a theory as to why if the latter.(not sure if this is really a spoiler, as I haven't gotten close to the center yet, but what if your player character is a child or even a smaller alien life-form?)
@cherub1000: (PS4)Glad I'm not the only one that ran into the multi-tool problem, happened to me last night. I also sometimes get a crash at the title screen. It seems that they may still be having server issues as I drop from online fairly often still. That said, the game has been everything I expected as stated by HG.
@xantufrog: I hear ya on that "FPS-of-the-year haha, though I don't think that's what they were going for anywho. XD One thing I don't get(well, okay I kinda do) is the hating(from two individuals on this site especially, I think as a MOD you know exactly which two I'm referring to). I mean, I get it, this game is not for everybody, no game in existence is. But, why the needless hate from those that clearly haven't played the game? At any rate, rant over. Happy exploring, space traveler!
@xantufrog: Good review! (On PS4) I have run into a few crashes, one bigger one, that I reported as it crashed upon attempted retrieval of a multi-tool upgrade, but nothing majorly game-breaking. Out of 20-30ish planets I've visited only 6 had no animal life, and of those six maybe 2 were devoid of plant life. Inventory management can be tricky early on(more on that later), but if you balance needs vs. wants, it becomes more manageable(more so once you get that Atlas Pass V1). I've been taking turns between trips toward the center and trips towards The Atlas. Finally, to your point of "I can't help but wonder a bit how much bad luck with the starting system influences reactions to the game", my starter was a radiated rain world with some hostile critters lurking about. It actually improved my later enjoyment as it helped me early on get that "need vs. want" balance worked out. I will also add that aiming during combat on PS4 is a bit lacking, KB/M aiming on PC most likely alleviates that problem though.
@snugglebear: Soooo...it turns out I don't have the hyperdrive blueprint as I thought. I was confusing that with the blueprint for warp cells. Guess that when I upgrade to a new ship again, I'll need to make sure it already has one.
